About the video, i just noticed USAF markings on one of those F-16:s..... but still, their wearing IDF/AF camo (or one very similar to that..)... makes me think still that this was filmed in USA, and the Kfirs are those that were leased for USMC as use for aggressor training, so they are the ones called as F-21....

IAI F-21 Kfir

These were Israeli aircraft that were in service in the US as "agressors" for dissimilar air combat training.

25 aircraft were eventually leased to the US Navy and Marine Corps as F-21As.

I kinda doubt the authenticity on whether if this footage was actually an
IAF air combat maneuver training.

If you've seen the movie "Iron Eagle", you will notice that A LOT of the
shots in this clip also appeared in the movie. So was the film copied this
"combat" footage, or vice versa?

For the falcon one is there meant to be no sound?

In case anyone cares, that eagle video was from a Combat Archer deployment my unit went on in 2002.

The main purpose of said deployment is two-fold. First new pilots are given the opportunity to shoot live missiles, and second to test the reliability of missiles in the inventory.

Units from all over the Air Force deploy down to Tyndall (FL) to shoot missiles. There is also a A-G verision, called Combat Hammer which does the same for bombs, and missles (AGM-65 etc).

Here's an in the cockpit shot of an AIM-7M shot:

Wow, good stuff Tengu. Is there info on what the context is? Real or training etc? It looked like real missiles at live planes... ?

Hood,

Did you see my first post on page 2? ;)

We took a tub (two seater) down to Tyndall when we went. One of the active duty combat camera guys took all that footage (plus alot of pictures (two of which you see)). The BFM part (where the camera is moving all over the place) was a training mission. The missile shots are all live missiles, just no warcranium. That being the case, you can see how much damage a 190 - 500 # missile does to a subscale drone (or F-4) when a missile hits the target.

They do put a AIM-9 warcranium into the F-4, but it is only there to 'finish' it off. Might look bad on the AF for a flaming F-4 to fly to the coast or something.

One more pic (Cold Lake CFB AB, last May) for the Lt to be.

Wyrm, do they really still use the AIM-7? Isn't it sort of outdated compared to the AMRAAM or does it still have some advantages over it in certain situations?

wyrm_142
05-01-2004, 02:20 PM
Its on the way out the door... the biggest advantage is the size of its warcranium. AIM-7's is roughly 77# while the AIM-120 is in the low 40's#.

About the F-15 dogfight video, from which squadron was the F-15 fighter
with tail marking of a diving eagle and the word "Oregon" from, and from
which air base?

The F-15s in the video are from the 123rd Fighter Squadron of the Oregon ANG flying out of Portland IAP.
