"An excerpt from the show "Bulls*it" where Penn & Teller discuss gun control. In light of the recent shooting rampage in Virgina they make some good points that gun control laws would not have prevented this tragedy."

well, i mean the 2nd amendment lets citizens buy guns for "self-defense", but after that, can't stop ppl for using it "offensively" or recklessly. I'm all for gun ownership, but there also has to be education (logging training hours before owning a gun or something similar to a a pilot's course, training before licensure.)

Well, to be honest. You're all fvcked over there either way you go. The vast numbers of firearms mean that if they were banned, or tighter controls were imposed, criminals would still be able to get firearms.

Although consider this. The bloke who murdered these people in Virginia was not a criminal until he shot the first victim.

The point that annoying comedian brought up about banning everyday objects that have killed people is moot. It's the same argument that the Duke of Edinburgh put forward by saying the Dunblane killer could have killed those children with a cricket bat. Yes, people get knifed, run over, beaten to death, but I doubt this scrawny South Korean student could have killed 32 people with a bat. I doubt he could even have killed one. Firearms make killing large numbers of people easier, in fact, that's what they are designed for. Oddly enough, that's the exact reason our armies are equipped with them. Firearms increase the lethality of a human by at least and order of magnitude.

Personally, I'm quite glad that I live in a country where the 'logical' debate doesn't surround equipping each citizen with a firearm and letting them 'shoot it out'.

The guy used 9mm Glock & .22LR Walther P22. I still can figure out how did he kill 32 & wound over 25, sounds like he was a solid shooter.

Eyewitnesses stated he never reloaded which should mean he was really accurate in aiming.

SEVERAL eyewitnesses saw him reload, and said he did it really quickly, like a pro. I don't know what news you're reading/watching.

Eh?

He'd have to be very accurate if he killed 32 people with a pistol and didnt reload. In fact, he'd have to hit at least two people with each round.

The eyewitness statement I heard said he just kept shooting and reloading relentlessly. Begs the question why nobody took him on while he was changing mags...but discussing these details is a little macabre.

It's not impossible. 30 round mag for the Glock plus the .22 cal.

And I was only repeating what I saw in the news.

True, so was I! :)

But like I said, it's a bit poor taste to be nitpicking over this so soon. I think I'll stop.
