The resistance army of Switzerland according to a new concept
by Ernst Frieden

15. Final thoughts
With my warfare doctrine, it should also be possible to keep the destruction of the country in limits. An opponent is not able to use his air force and artillery effectively. He can only use his tank troop and mechanised infantry.
The traditional foot infantry does no longer exist anywhere. When cleaning out the villages, he will discover quickly that he does not have enough soldiers. He will be unable to locate the opponent.

There is no limit to the fantasy and creativity during warfare. The aim of our new army is the preservation of freedom in Switzerland and its independence.

No offence, but I don't think the Swiss army can withstand a whole lot of abuse. Too soft and the reservists IMO are not trained enough. Besides most Swiss have no stomach for assymetrical warfare, max, they will spray paint grafitti and throw stink bombs. Yes, I live in Switzerland.

It was always the idea that after being conquered the swiss would fight a guerrilla war. (Just read books from Major von Dach)

True as long as Switzerland is not threatened, when threatened or put under pressure behavior changes. On top of that you don't need many people to be effective for asymmetrical warfare, and the terrain helps too.

I disagree. Anybody fighting for their home can be dangerous. Look at the Iraqis - nobody has ever claimed that they could fight well, yet look at the effect they (and their foriegn sympathizers) are having on the American military.

And when defending their homes, the swiss have the terrain on their side as well.

IMO, it's a pretty good concept.

Does anybody know if there's any other books by major von Dach translated in English?

They figured this out now? We have been planning for this for at least 50 years.

But this is perhaps a bit far-fetched. It works best when combined and coordinated with conventional units. That's when you get the maximum effect.

Good question and I will add in French too.

And to answer Thor, I have read Total resistance from von Dach, it was written in the early sixties.
