Uhmmm....

Thanks for the hostility, and btw you wrote G3 which is quite different than G3SG/1.

Have a nice day.

P.S. I think the "boots" were a hint....

I used G3 as a generic term for a rifle belonging to the G3 family, I was quite correct in saying G3, either way, I didn't ask what it was. And I don't see how the the comment about the boots was meant to help...

If you insist on being picky how do you know it's not a G3A3ZF?

Those boots are Scorpion Desert Boots.
You can get them at US Cav.
And I don't know why he has a "G3", or whatever you wanna call it...

See, it had a meaning... the boots that is... ;)

Graeme
05-01-2004, 05:09 PM
But that doesn't explain why he has a G3, does it?

Uninen
05-01-2004, 05:13 PM
Bottomline, i think he has it cause thats the weapon that was issued to him. US military does have some (maybe few hundred.....) of those weapons...

Graeme
05-01-2004, 05:15 PM
But why would it be issued over the standard issue weapon?

PLEASE stop posting in that irritating colour, its pointless. It makes you look like an annoying troll who requires to post in 'pretty' colours to get people to read what they have to say.

My best guess would be that he got the rifle as the designated marksman of a squad or something. But that's just guessing. ;)

El'Potato

Well he is using really _old_ US equipment which isn't even in use.
For instance the PASGT vest and the camo scheme in 6-color desert...

Graeme

And if you had read, the picture is a good 10 years old...

He likely picked it up form the "aha" or never turned it in, in the first place. Why the hell not. - hey, have the "same old-same old" or the "groovey no-one else has it toy" or better yet both and an Ak to boot. Why do you assume he was issued it, to further cloud your conundrum?

Duh, oh really ?

Too bad that this picture is from 1991, not 2004.

A valid point I guess, not exactly the sort of weapon your average Iraqi would have though, is it?

That is one myster why didn`t the US employ a DM rifle like the russians with the SVD .

I also herd that the US used Steyr AUG's in the first Irak war. Is this true?

I ask a genuine question and immediately people start posting, not answering the question or aiding the conversation in any relevant way, you'd find that annoying if someone did that to you.

For someone preaching about grammar, you ought to take a bit of your own advice into account. Secentences start with a capital letter.

Wow, I'm flattered someone would post my picture from the user gallery. If you have a minute here is the story behind the HK-91. When my unit (TOW Co 8th Tank Bn Reserve) was activated I decided that I didn't want a 5.56mm pop gun in the desert. This rifle belonged to my older brother and he gave it to me when I made this comment during a going away party. I hatched a plan to strip the rifle, 20 magazines and a spare parts kit and spread load the parts among the Marines in my platoon who had SAW's (roomy spare barel bags). When we arrived in SWA I collected all of the parts, reassembled the rifle and squireled it away in my hummer. The rifle did not make an appearance until the first week of the air war when the platoon comander we were assigned to called for two vehicles to check on some suspected enemey movement on the border. At this point I pulled the rifle out, inserted a magazine and chambered a round much to the disbelief of the Lt. He managed to ask where the f%$k I got that thing and I replied "sir, my mom sent it to me" and with that off we went to inspect much of nothing.

The scope (3x9 Burris) came in handy due to a lack of binoculars and I de-linked 7.62mm ammo to feed it. This rifle is in my safe at my house and the story about how I got it back will remain a mystery to protect the innocent.

hey zen what ever it takes for you to justify yourself.

I never pulled the trigger on it but I did use it to observe some wacky iraqi **** like keeping the crosshairs on a dudes head while he was pleading with some of his friends to surender and call in reports on different enemey positions. I did fire the MK-19 a couple of times though. To tell you the truth the guys over there now are doing way more **** than we ever did due to the duration of hostilities and they are doing an awesome job !

That did sound like a Paul Harvey story didn't it ?
