i just finished reading the memoirs of Heinz Linge who served as a bodyguard-valet for Hitler. Very interesting staff about matters as the Hess flight, the attempts to kill Hitler and other issues of research.
Beware to read the ORIGINAL memoirs authorised by his son Albert Linge and not some who have been altered for political reasons.
Heinz Linge (23 March (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/March_23) 1913 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1913) – 1980 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1980)) was a valet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valet) at Adolf Hitler (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adolf_Hitler)'s headquarters.
Linge was born in Bremen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bremen). He worked as a valet at Wolfsschanze (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolfsschanze) in Rastenburg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K%C4%99trzyn) and at Hitler's bunker (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F%C3%BChrerbunker) in Berlin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berlin) in the last days of the Führer's life, and was Hitler's personal ordinance officer. Linge delivered messages to Hitler and escorted people for whom Hitler had sent. He was one of many soldiers, servants, secretaries and officers who moved into the Reich Chancellery (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reich_Chancellery) bunker in 1945. There he continued as Hitler's valet and protocol officer and was one of those who closely witnessed the last days of Hitler's life during the Battle of Berlin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Berlin).
Linge was one of the last to leave the bunker and was arrested by the Red Army (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Army), which interogated him about the circumstances of Hitler's death. He was released from Soviet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_Union) captivity in 1955 and died in Bremen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bremen) in West Germany (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Germany) in 1980.
