Hey guys, I did a little project today on a photo given to me from a friend, and here is how it went:

This is the original photo, notice the picture cracking(white lines) and the cut borders.

This is the photoshopped version of it that I restored, notice how the color changed and the cracks are gone.

I'm interested in doing some more of this, if anyone has some photos that they want to give to me to see what I can do, feel free.

Yeah, I'm trying to find out how to make it more clear, but it's quite difficult.

One way is to increase the resolution of your original scan.

In other words get the original pic, and scan or photograph it at the highest resolution possible.

Another is to use multiple versions of an original. You might set the original photo up and take pictures from a secure tripod with a high resolution camera. Then use combinations of foward and back lighting that can pull parts of the image out of the media. Even varying light types may help to recapture some colors, or mask some deficiencies.

Then recombine all these varied sources to make up the best parts for each area of the photograph.

Can anyone say HUGE PITA.

Dunno, just some ideas.

Well the problem is, it's not my photo, I did this for fun from a friend, so I have to ask him and see what he can do.
