I know when the british left all their colonies after ww2 they left all kinds of structures and stuff like forts and bases some from like the 1600s. Anyone have pictures of this stuff? Also any british soldiers still man these structures?

i grew up in Bermuda, a speck of an island in the middle (more or less) of the Atlantic ocean. It still is a british colony but the Britsh army left in 1955. I think the Royal Navy still has a tiny presence there (don't quote me on that!)
The following link has pics and info on all of the forts there. If u want more i'll try to find some more for u.

the french built lots of forts and continued to upgrade them incorporating them into the maigiot line.. these forts were from the naplonic era. Verdun in ww1 was an example of these forts..
theres a great page i found that has forts of the world, including recent years...

This is the only thing left of Fort Loudon in Winchester, Va. It was the headquarters of George Washington during the construction of the fort.

Fort Loudoun (1756 - 1758), the frontier headquarters of the Virginia colonial militia. It was an earthen square redoubt with four bastions and armed with 18 guns. Construction was halted in 1758. The guns were removed, except one, in 1775. British and Hessian POWs were kept here 1780 - 1783. The earthworks were still visible in 1838. The site was just north of the old town area. The actual fort is no longer visible to this day.
