The Sturmtiger was an awesome weapon but it was heavy and consumed a lot of fuel.A common problem was transmission-brakedown like in this case.Lack of fuel and spareparts often left them beside a road like this one.

It's.....hhmmmm....HUGE
from the link : - "This Karl is on display at the Tank Museum of the Red Army in Kubinka (Russia). It is the last surviving piece of the six produced."
that 600mm shell belong to "Thor" the name of one of six Sturmmörser "Karl" ever to be manufactured
so I guess that one in Kubinka was called "Adam"

Bet I know some blokes that might want to borrow it for a weekend... :)
Something like that might be quite useful in OBUA/MOUT - knock up nice little breech loading mortar in a rotating turret with a coax 7.62 and a 50 cal. Stick on a load of applique armour to keep out RPG's and boy scouts an' there yer go.

thats a big supository...
wasn't the sturmtiger used in urban warfare?
its really hard to believe that only 60 years ago shooting one of those "rockets" at a building, with civilians in it would be ok if you kill an enemy.
