Israeli receives VIP treatment in Iran
JERUSALEM, May 6 (UPI) -- An Israeli man reported VIP treatment after his Turkish Airlines flight was forced to land in Iran.
Benny Medvediev, 32, of Rehovot, was aboard a Turkish Airlines flight en route from Istanbul to Mumbai, India, Friday when it developed mechanical problems and was forced to land in Tehran.
Medvediev told the pilot he was an Israeli and feared he might be at risk because of tensions between Iran and Israel. The pilot refused his request to be secured in the cockpit while the plane made its several hour stop-over in Tehran, YNet News reported Sunday.
"At first ... I was scared to death," Medvediev said. "But they were very nice to me and even invited me to visit Tehran again. I told them, 'Let's make peace, I invite you to come to Jerusalem'."
Medvediev said the Iranian security personnel even gave him a wooden box as a souvenir from his visit.

I read somewhere where Israelis normally travel back and forth from Iran to meet with friends and families.
Wasn't a Persian King named Cyrus credited for freeing the Jews from thier Babylonian exile?

Yes :) He is the only Gentile to be designated as a messiah, a divinely-appointed king, in the Tanakh (Isaiah 45:1-6).

Prior to the Islamic Revolution, Iran was an ally of Israel, and there is a long tradition of Judaism in Iran.

And my hope is that we will be allies once again in the future.

Iranians are very smart people . Also their sport acchievements are incredible (I'm taekwondo pracitioner , and Iranian taekwondokas are one of the best in the world . Too bad they forfit every time when they have to match against Israeli) .
Moreover ,I lived for long time in mostly Muslim Shia country near Iran , and they were pretty friendly to jews .
Now only if you guys could kick this midget civil engineer and his Mullatic friends away , that would be neat .

Actually there is a good representation of Persian Civil Engineers in California. They are leading the effort to restore the fallen overpass in Oakland.

I personally like Iranians. Genuinely friendlier than say, gulf Arabs. I've been to several Iranian families flats in Dubai, they just let me come in, welcomed often like a family member. With gulf Arabs, Saudis in particular, I have to wait outside while he hides his wives and daughters before he lets me in.

Persians have a high star with me as well, met quite a few up through the years and they are genuinely friendly folks without expecting a tip or payment for every favour you ask from them, unlike other people who "always" ("" = not generalizing too much) have an agenda behind that smile and the kind words.

Tehran and Isfahan are #1 on my list of places to visit (and do business) if a pro-western (or at least western-agnostic) government ever takes hold.
The country is on the brink of great wealth and advancement for its people, or great tragedy... all tied to my ability to visit woot LOL!
Iranians: nice people, Iranian government: pariah.
Sort of like the US currently, except it's not yet that authoritarian.:)

There is a large Persian community here in the Bay Area, in general. They all have one thing in common, they hate the midget and the mullahs with a passion. :)

Keep in mind Iran still has a population of 20,000-35,000 jews.

I've had the same experience here when visiting Palestinian friends in Northern California...but never the same problem visiting Persian friends in Orange Co.

It might help if they actually used the word "Israel"

This is one of the strangest conflicts that is going on in the world today.
There is a lot in common history, values and mutual respect for almost 2,000 years. I hope the fanatic egime will be over soon, so that the huge potential of the nations can work toghter again.

Well you could say Someone Else was involved in that too.
