This resembles the symbol of the Teutonic Order, but I believe there are also different "meanings" for it in the scandinavian area.

I thought the Black Hand(some kind of terrorist like group...not sure about the exact details, not sure if I even got the name right lol) but some group assasinated the Arch Duke of a country and Germany was backing that country up and was better prepared for war than most countries and that is why they are usually mistakened for the aggresor in World War One.

P.S. That's off the top of my head so sorry for any offenses or misinterpretations made of the Black Hand but I know the war started with an assasination in the Balkans area.

IMO, If you wish to air his bad ways and make a point for all to see, he should be brought back and allowed to defend his posts and explain his self if he wishes to. Maybe I dont know the whole story, but at the same time the whole story isn't being presented.

thats one interpretation of what he said....the other is that the "pride and honour" bit is present in their work ethic and cohesion etc, but doesnt extend to the killing bit - that humans actually have to hate to kill. Its a fair enough theory.

I had the pleasure of hearing a CO spit vitriol telling his troops a number of times that the Talibs were "a packs of fvcking cvnuts and arseholes" to get them worked up.

That wasnt honour, it was just hate. If it works, then fine. The problem was, he dressed it up as honour. The only person he was decieving was himself.

EDIT: I note Ngati's threat to make Dumbarses out of us if we dare continue to disagree with him. Way to go.

I didn't give any infractions in this thread. My take on his comments may not be what he intended. That's why he got an infraction from me, not a banning. I still read it as an attempt to denigrate the men serving in the current conflict as pawns without honor because this particular enemy isn't worth taking pride in killing... akruD, care to go into detail about this vitriol fueled CO?
