I just thought I'd start this thread because I'd like to get feedback about Abbeylara and so that we can ALL debate our opinions.
Synopsis;
On Holy Thursday 2000,John Carthy was shot dead by members of the Garda ERU.The siege had begun just over 24 hours before and when he emerged,armed Gardai told him to put his weapon(a legally held shotgun).He failed to do this and was shot four times.
The siege began because John's family home was being demolished,he was also a manic depressive.These 2 combined things sparked him into action.He forced his mother out and discharged 2 shots in to the air.She contacted Gardai who came on the scene quickly.When they did,their car was damaged when John shot at it.
Over the next 24 hours negotiations failed.Throughout the siege John discharged 28 shots,not injuring anyone.He was considered unstable.
Basically I just want to see what people think of the way it ended! Thanks
