How do you protect your pc from the **** of the internet?

I have McAfee Anti-Virus. Actual Bought Copy.
SpyBot S&D
Ad-Aware 6.0
BPS-Spyware Remover
Registry Mechanic

I want to get another 2 spyware programs. But I cannot use any p2p. I got letter from Charter Communications that they caught me downloading Norton. Sooo... if they catch me again, they disconnect me.

I use Norton AV, Spybot S&D 1.2, Ad-Aware 6.0 and Zone Alarm, so far this combination seems to work pretty well for me.

I have been using Panda Platinum versions http://www.pandasoftware.com/home/ for 5 years now (registered paid copy) and I have nothing to complain about. I have never been infected so far woot .

For pop ups and Troy horses I am using Spyware Remover from http://www.bulletproofsoft.com/ with success.

And right, personal knowledge and common sense are of a great help too ;)

Wireless router + built in firewall (on the router) + antivirus (kaspersky on one and norton on the others) + daily visit at windows update

And one linux which doesn't need all that ****.

Not that I care if someone will hack - I'm allways happy to share my **** collection ;)

Regular Maintenance of WinXP

To keep WinXP running as fast as the day it was installed, I highly recommend you regularly use the following "regimen":

1. Run a Virus Scanner and then a Trojan scanner

=> Anti-vir

2. Run Adaware, Regcleaner and WinOptimizer - delete all the files and entries they find.

=> Spybot, System Mechanic, Ad-Aware, Regcleaner en WinOptimizer (Winupdate!!!)

3. Delete any additional files you feel you no longer need. Empty the Recycle Bin as well.

=> Software, Recycle bin and things you don't need no more

4. Go into MSConfig and remove any recently-installed programs from the Startup list.

=> Especially NVidia drivers!

5. Go into the Services Editor and disable new non-MS services

=> Such as Nvidia Driver Helper

6. Go to the C:\Windows\Prefetch folder and delete the entire contents.

=> + Downloaded Program Files

7. Run Defrag. Once finished, run the Error Checking utility (CHKDSK /F) on reboot.

=> First scandisk, then defrag

=> Reboot

Agree, but take that last worm, it doesn't even need you to open a mail or something, it just enters your PC... I just like to keep it clean and tidy

What worm? Nothing can just enter your computer it must be run to do it....Maybe you are talking about that ?doom? shiat with is gathering mail adresses from afected computer and sends mails under cover of that gathered mails. So people gets notices from mail servers with antivir checks that from their acount was send mail with virus...

Use F-Secure here, top place in all recent tests, updates at least twice a day (Work days.) and very user-friendly. :)
