It's nice that you are interested in South African hardware, but is it really necessary to crosspost it over 3 different forums?

I'm not sure. I know that there were various armoured variants of the SAMIL 100, so perhaps using them as a data standard would be better.

More things:

http://img295.imageshack.us/img295/8082/bateleurma3.jpg

This second generation version of the Valkiri 22 MRL, fitted on a SAMIL 100 all terrain vehicle, fires 40 rocket rounds, either singularly or in ripples of 20 rounds. The entire set of 40 rockets can be fired within 46 seconds. The larger truck is fitted with a armoured cabin for the 5 member crew and allows sufficient space for rations, stores and water for a 14 day field excursion.

Calibre: 127 mm
Crew: 5
Number of barrels: 40
Elevation: 0° to 55°
Traverse: ±110°
Traverse movement: Manual
Rocket length: 2,6m (standard); 2,95m (extended)
Mass: 54 kg (standard); 62 kg (extended)
Rocket motor: Double base solid propellant
Rate of fire: 1/sec
Ripple selection: 1 to 40
Reload time: 10 min
Range: 8 000 - 22 000 m

I think that the range shold be wrong, as far as I know the range is 35-36 km.

Those are not Samil 100's. The pics are from the Army Recog site and are of a Samil 50 Kwę, pics might have been taken at veh graveyard at GSB Y in Cape Town. I have in the past tried to correct them (army recog), but address given on website is not working. The Samil 100, 50 and 20 are ordinary (Magirus Deutz) unarmoured and unprotected trucks (currently being seriously neglected - but that is another thread). The "Kwę" versions are hardened and mine protected (mostly cab only) and come in various guises (from APC to horsebox to towtruck to whatever). Most are Samil 100 Kwę's (based on Samil 100 chassis). The Samil 50 version shown in the pics are quite scarce

The Batteleur indeed uses the Samil 100 chassis, but an upgraded one (I think similar to the "Withings"/recovery version). The double-cab is also not standard.

On an aside. If the Yanks bought the 100's and 100's of Kwę's lying neglected and unused in SA veh parks in 2003 for their convoys when their troubles started, how much money in airlift, lives and bad press would they have saved to date??

Bateleur newer than both G5 and G6, so probably not due for replacement anytime soon.
