Check out this police officer's gear set-up. How fast do you think can he get that pistol into action?

Yeah, that kinda defeats the purpose of the drop leg holster.
Isn't that an mp5 anyway? Why the M16 mag pouch?

I dont see the problem...
If he wants to draw the pistol, he only has to reach for it and pull it out... It is not like the holster is welded to his leg...

NVGs, bulletproof vests?
Sure, they could still be airsoft, but why waste that amount of money to look like a policeman?
Any selfrespecting airsofter would rather play SAS or D3lta if they could have that kind of equipment...

You see crap like that with my Officer's duty belts. They put stuff behind their holster and then have problems getting their gun into action.
I wish I could make out the patch, never seen a SWAT/ERT team use, suppressed mp5s with the sliding stock...

Looks like the guy facing the camera has "Police" and "Sheriff" patches. Should just be one or the other, right?
Either you're with the Sheriff's dept, or the city police.

No, I meant the patch on the left guys arm.
But it does seem weird that the guy on the right had BOTH Sheriff and Police patches on his right chest.

I am not sure, it was just the patch which looked the most like that. (From what you can see on this picture.)
Anyway, the setup with the NVG looks strange.

Here are my reasons:
I spend alot of time wearing PVS14s like those, but you won't catch me wearing them with any hint of light around. They are far to heavy and uncomfortable to wear up like that.
The other dude doesn't even have an NVG mount on his own helmet.
They're wearing ACUs.
MP5SDs with the stock collapsed. I've really never seen any decent unit go around shooting weapons without a proper cheek/stock weld when you can get one.
The Police AND Sherriff patch.
The body armor looks odd, almost like it's made of DPM camoflage.
The guy on the right kinda looks like a putz. While not a defining characteristic - he looks like an airsofter.
The helmets look just like the crappy ones you can get from the surplus store for $20. Complete with plastic chin cup. The guy on the right has his chin strap under his fat roll.
The pistol under a surplus store M16 pouch.
I could deffinately be wrong though. Maybe that department just needs some help, I dunno.

I would actually be a bit surprised if they were airsoft... They just look too sorry-assed...
Their equipment looks like it was thrown on them, and some of it looks vintage... Actually, the bulletproof vests does as well... Which leaves the NVGs: Why would anybody in their right mind carry replica NVGs on their helmet? A movie may explain it, but airsoft?
Well, I must admit I dont know any airsofters, but still: If I were one, I would at least try to look "high-speed-low-drag-tactical-assault"... And not buying NVGs would free up a lot of money for "go-faster" equipment...

Among the other things people have mentioned that "isn't quite right" about the photo - Notice how sloppy the belt is on the person to the left. The pouches are extremely low and half way down his a$$. It's just plain sloppy, and doesn't add up.

As long as you don't out in public and act like one.
Movies do it all the time. On private property, you can play what ever.

I don't know what agency they are from and I certainly don't mean to disparage any of my fellow LEOs but all of you that think every SWAT team is outfitted with the latest HSLD ninja gear are just plain wrong. There are bunches of small PDs and SOs that have regional SWAT units made up of members of several departments. Not every SWAT guy is an Olympic caliber athlete. Lots of agencies get some of their gear from DRMO cause that's what they can afford. Or they have to supply their own. Not all of them are Tier 1 units, or even full-timers.
Why would you have NVGs on a daylight op? Maybe its a barricaded gunmen and they are going to hold the perimeter for the next 10-hours or so so negotiators can do their deal. Maybe its daylight outside and dark where they are going/coming from?
Why Sheriff & Police patches? Maybe it is a consolidated agency. EG Jacksonville Sheriff's Office road guys are called police officers It is formally Police Dept, Office of the J-ville Sheriff. Same for Miami-Dade County. Maybe its a consolidated team or a TF with officers from several agencies. There are a lot of reasons.
The holster looks like its in a bad spot. But maybe after a long standoff or op or multiple warrants/multiple sites, the stuff just got jostled around, stuff does that.
Maybe they are airsoft/actors or maybe they are trying to do the best with what they got...
Edit to add: He may have an old TA-50 suspenders and belt setup and have it open as he is in an admin role when the photo was taken, so its hanging down and not cinched up.

Laconian pretty much sums it up. There are plenty of teams around my area that have mixed jurisdictions and mixed quality gear. Some departments/officers train a lot and some just here and there. Honestly would not suprise me if that guy hasn't actually trained much with that setup. Many guys buy the gear they need that the department won't so its not suprising to see a ton if different stuff mixed in.
As far as NVG's go, some teams only have a few sets. We are lucky and our while team is outfitted with PVS-14's, except for the medics (FD certified police officers). Our guys can use the NVG as they see fit as far as headmout, weapon mount, or wearing it all the time for later transitions and such.
Be interesting to find the real story on this pic. Either way pretty stupid to lock your backup in.
Edit: There are a few teams going to ACU or other digital patterns. I like my olives though :)

Rock on then. Maybe someone can figure out where they're from and let us know. Then we can set up a donation fund to get them better equipped, heh. :D Hell, I've got better gear than them just sitting in my closet unused. I'd give some of it to a department that's hurting on funds.

I've seen those types of SWAT/ERT units, we have a lot of towns here in central Flrodia that pool Officers for a SWAT/ERT team. I only question that Sheriff and Police patches becuase I've never seen that before, but most SWAT guys I know or have seen are down here in Flordia.
Oh and last time I spoke with a JCSO Deputy he said they were starting to "offically" switch to calling them Deputies instead of Officers. Just an FYI.

didn't ANYONE notice the "bling" on the guy on the right's chest?
it had always been my understanding that the purpose of a thigh holster was to get a secondary handgun out of the way of other belt stuff, or of a primary handgun, in the specific case of LAPD SWAT, rather than to enable rapid draw.

Well, lets face it, some airsofter have their Sh!t togther, some LEO do not.
If it is a small combine agency, they may be less trained and less practiced than a lot of airsofter. I would not put airsofters down.
On Agencies, some are very much limited on training money. Besides the primary job of a cop is roving secretary.

As Orionhawk said, wtf is with the dollar sign "bling". It's not very professional.
I can understand troops with a badge or something small and symbolic for morale purposes during prolonged deployments. But if they're a cop, it is entirely unneccessary to have a shinny dollar symbol hanging off your neck like some rapper.
