He's a full bird Colonel with a Joint command. Lot's of Navy guys are wearing ACUs in support of army commands.

If I am surrounded by Marines I might wear Marpat or my flightsuit. If I'm supporting the Army I might wear ACU. The idea is to keep the bad guys from saying "he looks different- shoot him".

Here's a pic of USN EOD2 Adam McSween (R.I.P) wearing ACU's-

Not trying to hijack the thread (sorry gonzalez and BMF) but when did navy eod start carrying Sig p226s/mk. 24 mod 0? I've seen them with m9s and m11, but never 226s. Anyway, sorry.

Macs.

Is there a magazine in his M9? It doesn't look like it.

Yeah i guess the M4 would give it away. But their weapons are so cammed up, you'll have to be really close to spot the difference.

Sigg 226s have been around for a while. Usually if we are supporting a unit that uses 226s we use them as well. Some guys prefer them over the regular M9 and choose to carry them. We are supposed to switch over to HK USP 45 ACP at some point but I'm not sure when we will see that. I personally think the M9 deserves more praise then you usually hear.

Safety glasses look like regular old wiley X something or another with clear lenses. I have a set but they are too loose and slide of my grape easily.

I heard we (USN EOD) were going to make the switch a while ago. It was during the same conversation that talked about the EBR, .50 cal SMUD, and SCAR coming our way. Some of those have happened but I haven't heard anything on the USP for a while ---nor am I currently in the position to be "in the know" at the moment.
