Putin's next generation make their mark
By James Rodgers
BBC News, Moscow

When the Kremlin's not happy, Nashi will make sure people know.
Nashi describe themselves as a "democratic, anti-fascist, youth movement".
The name is the Russian word for "ours". It has the ring of "our lads", or "our team".
This week, they have been using their own tactics to show their support for Russia in its row with Estonia.
They have picketed the Estonian embassy in Moscow.
They broke into a hall in the centre of Moscow where the Estonian ambassador was about to give a news conference, and clashed with the ambassador's guards.
'Blockade'
There were even reports of their activists trying to stop Russian trucks from delivering goods to Estonia.

The "blockade" of the embassy, as Nashi described it, was lifted only when the ambassador went on leave.
Nashi claimed it as a victory.
The progress of the action was gleefully catalogued on their website, under a picture of the Soviet war memorial in Tallinn, whose removal sparked Moscow's dispute with its neighbour.
The site has a link for those who want to know more about "Estonian state fascism".
Nashi have a history of tailing diplomats they do not approve of.

The British ambassador to Moscow, Anthony Brenton, was among foreign observers at a meeting organised by "Another Russia" last summer. The group is a broad coalition opposed to President Vladimir Putin's administration.
For months afterwards, Nashi picketed the British embassy. They appeared at public engagements where Mr Brenton was due to speak and tried to disrupt them.
Payment claims
Most of their members are in their teens or 20s.
"When I was their age, I'd demonstrate for anything, too," said one observer of their protest outside the British embassy said with an ironic smile, "just not for money."
Nashi members deny they are paid to turn out - but it is an allegation which is persistently made against them.
To some, their well-organised, well-attended, rallies suggest the presence of the Kremlin's helping hand.
One name which comes up in discussions like that is Vladislav Surkov.

ESTONIA-RUSSIA TIES
1918 : Estonia gained independence from Russia
1940 : Forcibly incorporated into Soviet Union
1941-1944 : Occupied by Nazi Germany
1944 : Soviets return as Nazis retreat
1991 : Gains independence as Soviet Union collapses
1994 : Last Russian forces leave Estonia
Now : Ethnic Russians make up quarter of Estonia's 1.3m people

Mr Surkov is the deputy head of the Kremlin administration. He is not a publicity seeker.
At an extremely rare news conference last year, he spoke of a "boom" in youth movements in Russia.
"We have to try not to lead this too much," he said, in an apparent reference to the communist youth movements of the Soviet era, then added: "But of course we contact and support those who support us."
Nashi are certainly among the Kremlin's supporters.
Their "manifesto", as outlined on their website, overflows with patriotic sentiment, and praise for Mr Putin.
Mr Putin has previously honoured these most fervent of his admirers with personal visits to their summer camps.
Nashi are proud of what Mr Putin has achieved during his time in office.
Aside from their street protests and rallies, they have an education programme.
They want to create new leaders for the 21st century - a generation which will build on the successes of its first decade.
Election season
They have no time for anyone who does not share their vision.
Another Russia is roundly condemned. Nashi dismiss it as an "unnatural union of liberals and fascists".
The relative standing of these two movements was clearly illustrated last month.
Another Russia's demonstration was broken up by riot police.
On the same day, the Young Guard - the youth wing of the pro-Kremlin United Russia party - and Nashi both held much larger, officially sanctioned rallies.
Election season is approaching in Russia: a parliamentary poll in December will be followed by a presidential one in the spring.
This is not a country on the verge of an orange or rose revolution.
Mr Putin enjoys widespread, genuine, public support. The electorate is thankful for the economic stability he has presided over.
Russia has a new sense of national pride. Anyone who questions or challenges the value of that may get a visit from Nashi.

“Nashi” (Site: http://www.nashi.su/ (http://www.nashi.su/) ) and “Mestnye” (Site: http://dva.mestnye.ru/ (http://dva.mestnye.ru/) ) are two major pro-Kremlin youth organizations that primarily oppose such youth movements as National Bolshivk Party (NBP) (http://eng.nbp-info.ru/ (http://eng.nbp-info.ru/) ) and Vanguard of Red Youth (AKM) (http://akm2017.nm.ru/ (http://akm2017.nm.ru/) ), as well as DPNE. They haunt everyone who is in some way associated with these organizations. "Another Russia" includes NBP, and Anthony Brenton happened to attend their event. Some pictures:

I don't like either Nashi nor the NBP. All of them should be disbanded, to allow peacefull people their peace for once.

Putin has nothing to be afraid of, he has got massive support which continues to increase. No need to be paranoid of a few radicals.

NBP: Is it advocating a return to post-Stalin Soviet Communism, or a "purified" this-is-how-Lenin-would-have-done-it Marxism-Leninism form?

I doubt there is much sense to their political program; it is a mix of communitarianism with egalitarian liberalism (?). I think it is purposely made very aggressive, provocative, and unrealistic. Lemonov attempts to merge politics and art... or so it seems (Not unlike Mayakovsky, who, during his futuristic period, claimed that he liked the “screams of dying children”). Here are the first six paragraphs of their program:

ESSENCE OF NATIONAL-BOLSHEVISM
1. Essence of National-bolshevism is the incinerating hatred to antihuman SYSTEM of the trinity: liberalism / democracy / capitalism. The man of uprising, national-bolshevik sees his mission in destruction of SYSTEM up to the basis. On ideals spiritual courage, social and national justice the traditionalistic, hierarchical community will be constructed.

ENEMIES
2. Foreign enemies of National-bolshevism: the large Satan - USA and mondialists of Europe, incorporated in NATO and UN. Internal enemies: a class of "jackets" - boyars - bureaucrats, marauders - "new Russian", cosmopolitan intelligentsia.

THE PURPOSE
3. Global purpose of National-bolshevism is the creation of Empire from Vladivostok up to Gibraltar on the basis of Russian civilization. The purpose will be achieved in four stages: ą) Transformation of Russian Federation into the national state Russia by Russian Revolution, b) Joining of the territories of former republics of the Soviet Union, inhabit by Russians c) Rallying around of Russians Eurasian nations of the former USSR. d) Creation of huge continental Empire.

THE STATE
4. Having come to power, NBP will make revolutionary on the scales of transformation in Russia, will construct the TOTAL STATE, the human rights will concede a place to the rights of a nation. Inside the country the iron Russian order, climate of discipline, bellicose and diligence will be established.

5. The parliament of Russia will consist of two Houses: House of the deputies (450 places) will be legislative and elective; the second House becomes House of the representatives (900 places), consultative and not elective. In the second House the representatives of the nation under the people offers will be put forward: the trades, ages, authorities public and religious will be submitted. The head of government will lean on House of the representatives, receiving recommendations from it.

6. Russia will be divided into strategic districts, governed from the center; the national republics and lands will be abolished, and their "presidents" are dispersed.

I don't think they have much to do with either to be honest. I've heard a lot about them and read quite a few articles, but to this day I still can't seem to figure out just *what* they're about :)

Mind you though, I consider that the recent conduct of Nashi in the whole Estonian Embassy Siege incident leaves a lot to be desired.

"Nashi" and all the other Kremlin-backed youth "movements" from a testube are as viable as soap bubbles, their members have absolutely no loyalty to the proclaimed ideas and only participate because: A. it pays (quite well in some cases) and B. it's absolutely safe (police will not let them get hurt in clashes with non Kremlin-sponsorded rivals).

Remove either one or both of the above benefits and this animatronics show will fall apart like the house of cards that it is. It's just Kremlin's containment plan against the threat of a "popular revolution" (another mass idiocy, albeit with different sponsors and spin-doctors) similar to what happened in Georgia or Ukraine.

Desiring turning Estland into a glass marking lot? :p /joke. But seriously both Nashi and nazboll whores and fags should be given showels and pickaxes and send to build a road from lets say Yakutsk to Anadyr', but unfortunatelly it's not possible, so gay hitlerjugend of fuerer Limonov has to be balanced by someone.
