Ok , after all the words said by people of Spain , and some several forum members here , that the pullout from Iraq is not an act of fear , i find this news (unfortunatly , couldn't find English source ) :
The statue of St. Santiago from Santiago de Compostela chearch is been taken down , in order not to heart Muslim feelings . The statue is of Compostela taking the heads of Mavrue Muslim Spain occupiers from 13 century . According to legend , St. Santiago standed efore Cristian troops in 844 year , and shouted "Santiago , we will release Spain" , and they defeated Muslim Mavrue forces on that battle . That was a simbol of Spanish freedom from Mavrue 800 years occupation of Spain , and fight between Cristianism and Islam . And now it's gonna go away , in order not to heart Muslim feelings .

So , what's the story ?

Stop saying nonsense. they are changing one statue for another also of Santiago. BTW mosques in Spain will have microphones to check what kind of preaching is going on in there.

Santiago or St. James, is the patron st. of Spain, also called Santiago Matamoros (moor killer). And muslims never occupied all of Spain, as the whole top 3rd of the country was never occupied and the middle third was recovered quickly. The person that started the reconquista was the visigoth nobleman Don Pelayo.
