It is not often one whoops with joy listening to the BBC Radio 4 Today programme, but Jon Humphrys interviewing John Bolton, former US ambassador to the UN, this morning was a sheer delight.
America needs as many John Bolton's as it can get

Yeah that was priceless. Humphry's sneering arrogance came through clearly.

He didn't necessarily own him, it's simply that he responded by calling him out on the assumptions behind his questions, which is a very rare thing for an interviewee to do. This is typical of too many interviewers who frame what are basically their geopolitical or strategic opinions as statements of fact in their questions.

im not sure the American public would like to accomodate more people who think declaring yet another war in the middle east (iran) ,from the comfort of their washington office, is a fantastic idea
bolton is a pin-up boy for the 'if your not with us your a pinko/leftie/communist/traitor/terrorist' argument. He couldn't even bring himself to admit that the iraq invasion has been a complete disaster for the middle east.

I love how the interviewer claims his "neutral" stance all the while using such phrases as "America is a busted flush".
It's nice to see the biased media called out on it.

Bolton is a prick. I never saw why they appointed someone as a UN ambassador who would so happily say he would be happy to see the UN building bombed and a third of his collegues murdered and regularly tout about how evil they are.
The guy is constant on his lies, even going as far back to make stuff up about Abraham Lincoln to prove his case that the neocon philosophy is the only good one in the world. He was a big supporter of Vietnam but joined the National guard because "I have no interest in going off to die in a Southeast Asian rice paddy.”
He was involved in supporting death squads in Latin America and facist dictatorships and many other nasty stuff in the Reagon administration. Did all he could to derail any investigation of the Iran Contra scandal while in office.
Afterwards he spent most his time thinking of ways around the Geneva bioweapons convention, and demanded the US shouldn't comply with it since its against US interests not to have bioweapons it can use on its enemies whenever they so choose. At the same time he demanded Cuba to comply with the regulations or they should face military action and when CIA officials came forward saying theres no evidence that Cuba had anything like a bioweapons programme he tried to have the CIA officials fired.
Bolton gave major advice and support that led to the US pulling out the ICC, the anti ballistic missile treaty, got the country to block the non Nuclear test treaty and hid dozens of secret memos from Colin Powell and Condileeza Rice about important siturations. Then came his biggest success. Being one of the main architects for the war in Iraq by using evidence known to be fake and gathering it to be used anyway for example the Nigerian Yellowcake letter that was signed by a guy who had been dead for years and had the wrong name of the country on it, being used in a certain Presidential speech.
The guy so bad his ranting single handedly destroyed negitations with North Korea and Jack Straw and Condileeza Rice wouldn't even let him in the Iran and Libya talks because he has a way of insulting just about everyone.
He is a scumbag who had people fired for requesting maternity leave, with no respect to the people he works with or has to negiatiate with, he caused problem after problem to the stage that people didn't turn up to even the UN meetings he called. Saying we need more of him is rediclous. Its people like that who has screwed up US international relations for decades to come.

While the soviet Union was still around, neither side played fair. I'd like to see a few links about these bioweapons claims.

Both very, very good things!

Didn't Reagan call the Soviet Union the evil Empire.
Bolton is tough, either thicken your skin or get a new job.

The "bully" behavior kind of distracted the focus from what's he was saying (not that I particularly agree with him), when he was representing the US in the UN.

John Bolton is a crazy, war mongering idiot.
If the USA has more of this guy, you'd be glowing green along with Russia and the rest of the world right now.

Clean out your headgear Bolton is not a NeoCon he is a conservative and always has been.
Neo-Conservatives are for the most a band of liberal intellectuals who rebelled against the Democratic Party's leftward drift on defense issues in the 1970s.
I'm so tired of Neo-Conservative being used as a blanket term.
