I have just watch the movie " Zulu dawn " and i noticed that the british officers wore different badges of rank to that of today.
How did the old rank insignia appear conpared to todays insignia and why did they change the badges of rank?

A bunch of them were changed in 1902 including the ranks for Captain and Leftenants. This was further changed in WW1 when they changed the rank from the cuff to the shoulder as they kept getting shot by snipers and was approved for an alternative for officers in 1917 and for all uniforms in 1920.
