Vietnam Vets Slam Kerry
Posted May 4, 2004
By Richard Tomkins
Sen. John Kerry's accounts of his service in Vietnam and his statements that he witnessed atrocities were attacked as fabrications and political opportunism today by a group of Vietnam veterans who served with him personally or in the units affiliated with him during his short tour of duty in Southeast Asia.
The veterans, including some of Kerry's former commanders and shipmates, have formed an organization called "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth" and called on the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee to authorize release of all his service records, including medical records.
"We feel it is very, very important that the American people get the actual truth about that three or four months Kerry served in Vietnam since he has made it a centerpiece of his biography," said John O'Neill, who took charge of Kerry's boat and crew after Kerry left Vietnam. "Second, we resent very deeply the false war crimes charges he made coming back from Vietnam. ... We think that those have cast aspersion on those living and dead.
The GOP spin doctors are working overtime, but damn, get their dirty work done. The grassroots propaganda work the GOP has been doing among Veteran's organisations is paying off, and might give the "Warrior President" a big boost.

Why are so many political threads started in the "general" forum of a military website?

I thought it was amusing that Kerry's election spokesperson said that both his military background were irrevelent in the election itself.

NO MORE KERRY?!?! 3 cheers, goddamnit!
I know, everyone hates Bush. Whatever. I think he's doing alright. If Kerry was president, this wouldn't be the USA. I don't know what freakish land it would come out as afterwards. All FUBAR if you ask me.

Yes Cut I know that Chirac is from the Right. The point I was trying to make is in the similarities in policies, not affiliation wise.
Example-
They all had ME policies which were considerably softer than G.W. Bush
At least two of the 3 are peaceniks
Ya Dig???

BTW, my wife is American, so I support most current US policies, specially since my brother in law almost got killed in 9/11, and my closest friend lost her unborn baby due to 3/11 in Spain.
So while I consider myself to be openminded, and try not to generalize, I do not support policies like the ones the guys in the pictures placed above supported.
Next time be more educated in your opinion Mr. Cut
that's very nice but that kind of stuff means no more to me then the guys fighting on the front line, it;s the same cause is it not?
The (R)IRA bombed the bus stop I used to get home from school a couple of years ago, do I used that against you for being catholic? please keep things into context don't extra things into to context. like that the cold truth is, it matters not.

Cut,
In regards to policies and the soldiers, I`ll speak of the two cases I know in which I feel that soldiers must have felt insulted by the politics of:
a) Carter and the abandonment of the Iran embassy hostages
b) Zapatero withdrawal of Iraq
I know for a fact, since I got a coz who is a legionnaire and another who is a captain in the air force, that our military is not happy at all with Zapatero for his decission to pull out (yes it was an electoral promise, and yes it doesn`t mean appeasal- no matter what some short sighted people might think) because they believe they were doing an important job. Do you know per example that of the 600+ members of the Iraqi police in Najaf, none deserted? most tried to learn spanish? they all begged the soldiers not to leave, cause what the troops were doing was important, and wheter we like it or not, whatever the reasons for the inavsion of Iraq, of which terrorism is not one of them, it has now become a battle of the war on terror since AQ has become active in the conflict.
BTW I got most of the french part, but my french is rusty.
In any case, a pleasure to debate with you, as long as we keep the forms.
Regards
I'm very sorry about that foxtrot, was a bit twatted yesterday..again

Why would anybody under 18 year old and/or non-American care about this year's election? I mean, there is nothing you can do about it.

Everyone is saying Kerry sucks. The Republicans, Vietnam veterans, even other Democrats.
If anyone saw the Daily Show with Jon Stewart last night, he had some good jokes about Kerry and how he has no message etc. It was good.

Hence that is why I said two of the 3 (Carter, Zapatero).
