Mahdi Army (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaish-i-Mahdi)
Mahdi himself (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahdi)
The Mahdi will appear during the last days of the world, and will precede the second coming of Jesus, who Muslims believe to be the messiah. The two are different individuals, but they will work together to fight evil in the world and to cement justice on Earth.
Gives me the creeps.... :|
Does anybody have anything more to add about of two of these? And please dont give me anything like: "their thugs" and ****, hard facts please.

Olam Ha-Ba
According to muslims Jesus never died, and he will come back at the end of time.
The mahdi army is not sadr's army. Its the army created from the true believers, and those that are not tempted to sin.

The Mahdi Army began as a small group of roughly 500 seminary students connected with Moqtada al-Sadr in the Sadr City district of Baghdad, formerly known as Saddam City.
Well, i guess the "Mahdi army people" themselfs think that their true belivers......
Also they might think that the end fo times is here, or at least near...

Is al-sadr claiming to be Mahdi?
I guess not, but by judging from the name of his militia, his building the army for him.... p-)

his little empire building stunt is not doing him any favours with Iraqi Shia's or Iranian Shia's either.

nope its just a name. He probably chose that name because it has a meaning, or a symbol. He never claimed he is building an army for him.
End times are coming soon.. All the Bible prophesies are fulfilled for the 2nd coming of Christ.. They are sort of right in that case.. I doubt though, they are going to heaven.

SeanAshi,
From where have you gotten the idea that it was 37mm dual cannon? Do you have some proof perhaps? :)
Just asking...

No proof...but it is Iraq, there is no telling what al-Sadr or other Iraqi rebels have hidden. I'm sure they have an endles supply of AK's, rpg's, mortars, basic explosives...
