Shoalwater Bay Action Group (http://www.shoalwaterbay.org/index.php)

For years now the Shoalwater Bay Action group have been trying to shut down the Tandem Thrust/Talisman Sabre series of exercises due to potential environmental damage, primarily by the use of Depleted Uranium. I've put up with these hippies every time I've been on TT/TS and they're starting to get on my nerves with their ignorance. For example-

A.D.F purchased and used 43,000 rounds of Depleted Uranium Weaponry over a period of 10 years(1981 to 1991) but refuse to identify where this weaponry has been discharged. (N.B.:The United Nations have declared Depleted Uranium as an illegal Weapon of Mass Destruction). and my favourite one being

Live phosphorus flares, Stockyard Point and Bangalee.
Twice during 2006 live military "flares" have washed ashore on Capricorn Coast public beaches. These devices were designed for night-time illumination, however they have also been used as incendiary and chemical weapons in Iraq by the U.S.A. in Falujah and by Israel in Lebanon. They have been described in the international press as "horror weapons".FLARES are 'horror weapons'? Jesus I'd hate to ask them to describe a 155mm Howitzer.

Still, you can't help but get a laugh out of these people. For example, the proposed list of protest activities include (http://www.shoalwaterbay.org/peace.php)-
Peace Walk from the Peace Park in Rockhampton to Western Barracks
Vigil outside Western Barracks
Media Conference
Entrance blockade of SWBTA Wednesdayand best of all-
talent show/ball/punk night/film night – in Rockybut they should probably skip to this step
Pack up/go homeI wonder if they realize what they're doing is as likely to have as much effect for peace as burying a black cat at midnight does for warts?

Flares are more scary than howitzers.

You've just given the group a lot more free publicity, so evidently, their protest has accomplished something.

Ha ha, publicity doesn't equal accomplishment. I mean, look how much publicity Bob Brown has, and the Greens haven't accomplished **** p-)

Senator Andrew Bartlett. Is that drunken, woman assaulting goose still in politics? I imagine he'll be linking link up with the other 2 or 3 remaining Democrats in the unemployment lines after the election.

Half the soccer games around the world must be unholy, bloody massacres then.rofl

And if their nightly punk rock concerts don't stop all wars and 'accelerated militarisation of Australia', then this will work for sure (http://www.peaceconvergence.com/page/ts07)-

Man I'm really curious as to how they got to the 655,000 deaths figure.

Those selfish bastards. They should donate the shoes to those charities that take old shoes and turn them into basketball courts for disadvantaged Aboriginal communities.:p

You might not agree with it, but I'd bet you'd be slightly miffed if thousands of troops, tanks, ships .etc started excersising near where you lived, and ruining your beaches.

Shoalwater has been a ADF ground for decades, so chances are those irritated hippy tree hugging watermellons (green on the outside, red in the middle) have moved there knowing their neighbours in advance.

Those beaches have been ours for 42 years.

You don't see this rabble around Wide Bay Training area, because the Yanks don't train there and probably because the freaks around Gympie scare them off...

- plus the sight of a hippy nailed to a fence post probably put 'em off :-)

whack a slab in the esky, put the footy on, kick back let the do-gooders save some lives with their banjos, and crack on back at work the next day when the flare hating hippies decide its a bit cold and sandy on the beach in June...

Vigil outside Western Barracks?? give em $5 and the un-employed tree huggers will probably do guard duty....p-)

I just couldn't put my finger on what was wrong with this image at first...I didn't care to read it in case of catching a case of the hippies through my monitor...but then I sensed it...yes, there it was...a vile and evil underlying problem with it all...

I for one am very shocked at this totally un-Australian event and as su ch shall be hosting my own event in honour of Shoalwater and all its fun times. Plenty of flares and DU for all...and of course alcohol.
