Australian SASR have issued the Glock 17 and 19 for use by those on the TAG (CT) rotation, although pistol use is personal choice within SASR, so it's a mix between the the BHP, Glock and Sigs.

I think just about any Austrian unit would use it for obvious reasons. I know that the GEK use them.

My info is that SASR is using USPs and BHPs only. TAG is using USP9s and others are using USP40s. BHPs were being phased out. Info comes from a technical and acquisition advisor who contracts for several military and public service organisations at Swanny.

This was current info in july 2000, and I haven't heard of any changes since. I know that Glocks of one description or another were procured by the army, but from my understanding they were not specifically for SASR.

If you've got any other info or sources, I'd love to hear them. We appear to have a common interest in Aussie SOF units.

Saw an image from the Tampa ages ago- might have been in Farrell's magazine- with a SASie carrying a Glock of some description in a thigh rig. There was also at least one High Power IIRC.

Good to see SASR/4RAR doing the business in Iraq.

i don't like glocks, they don't conform well in my hands, they're too box-ish. if i was in a sf unit i'd probably use my trusty browning .22LR...

SASR have on issue the Glock 17 and 19.
(Anything that is issued on a general basis is automatically "inventorised")

BHP is in the armoury but not widely used.

HK USP's in 9mm (short and standard) are also on issue but only for those attached to TAG rotation at the moment, although this isn't set in stone as far as I'm aware.
