View Full Version : Standerd Russian Army AK-74M scope
Hi, I was wondering if there was any sort of standard scope in the Russian Army for the AK-74M, and if so can you tell me and post pictures? If not a standard, is there at least one that is used most often?

I think the 1P29 is the most usual, it's basically a copy of the British SUIT sight.

Can you post some pictures? And also, can you post a picture of what it looks like through the scope, ie 1st person view?

The sight reticule is a triangular post like the British SUSAT, only inverted so it points down rather than up. Can't find any photos.

What's the reason for the inverted post?
if you're not looking for magnification and red dot type is ok, i can't say enough good words about the pk-as. i have one on my ak-103 and i'm going to put one on my vepr. excellent piece of kit.

I read good comments about it also.
Can you take some hi-res pics for us?

What's the reason for the inverted post?
The purpose of the inverted post is because when set to normal combat ranges sometimes you will find targets at longer ranges you might want a shot at. To fire at longer ranges you aim slightly high but the post is quite thick so it tends to cover the target especially at longer ranges. By having an inverted post you can still see all of the target clearly which better allows you to judge how high an aim you are holding.
