About fifty hours. At the end of it I felt surprisingly refreshed, then I sat down and passed out.

After 48 you're body does attain some sort of sleep... but it's not REM. You can't stay focused without some form of REM after 48 hours. Even one hour would do the trick.

LAN party, about 2 days. The trick is to keep yourself occupied. Computer games are a good example.

about 84-85 hours. Thehours between 20 and 24 was the hardest period. After that, a piece of cake actually. But when I passed out, I passed out.

I can with no problems stay awake between 30-40 hours every now and then. But age is taking it's toll.

Bad idea man.
DOnt force yourself to stay awake unless you have to. No point messing around with yur body like that.
You will be stressed out after 48hours of no sleep, you will have headaches, and you will lsoe your appetite.

I did not sit by a table and tapped my fingers. I was working and was way to occupied to reckognice the symptoms. :D

~84h (3.5 day) - had a deadline for a big project and there was nothing else to do then sitting by 15 computers and getting it done.

We where 3 of us and one guy feel asleep after some 48hours. He kinda scared the **** out of us when we suddenly jumped up from his sleeping position and stood in a kata (took a kara-te stance), looking around as scouting us and the surounding for enemies...and the went back to sleep.

He never remembered it after we wook up some 10 hours later and we poored coffe in him.

The worst is the hallucinations... :|

Yeah!!! ****! Had some hallucinations after being up for about 2 1/2-3 days on a manouver.(Mid-winter, -25 C) That was scary. Went over to the XO and told him that. Was revealed from duty and went straight in to my sleeping bag.

I must be special. Longest I've stayed up is 120 hours (5 days). Slept like a rock after that. (I was sick at the time.) woot woot woot (much w00ting)

You should do a project on me. I bet you $500 I could stay awake for 7 days, out in the field too. Lemme know if you want to study that.

Just be careful bud. After 24-36 hours, sleep deprivation can have serious physicaly, emotional, and psychological effects.

By the way, I been awake for a number of days, I don't know how many for the longest duration. I eventually went into something resembling shock though; I went into convulsions and my body pretty much shut down.

So just be safe guys. ;)

funny thing is how it's "fun" to see how long you can go without sleep... When you're not forced to... Come 5:00 in the morning we'll see who's actually letting weakness leave the body.

Hey why listen to the older/wiser gentleman,

I mean hey what's a little heart arythmia, huh?

Hey, next time see if you can create the effects of over-hydration, and add years of wear and tear in your heart - assuming it still beats properly.

Sounds like an irresponsible project that assumes you are in good health and lack any underlying problems. Yes, this thing happens in the military but they tend to be a better screened for their health and in bettre physical condition than the average person.

104 hrs is my personal record. Key things are already mentioned but I'll say them again: 1) Have something to do all the time. 2) Eat&drink often, but don't eat much at once.

Wouldn´t a good idea be to just step away from the computer. And take the train
to the nearest town where you simply can´t fall asleep no matter how much you
want it.
