:D During WWII, many P-51 and P-47 tanks dropped over occupied Europe found their way as drinking trough or as flowerpot! You could even see some of them today ;)
Could someone positively identify those tanks ? I doubt this is in Vietnam, I would rather think of Cambodia or Myanmar... To me, those slick and long cylinders (!) look like from a Russian origin (Mig 21's 800 liters tanks?).
But it could also be from a RF-101, F-100 or F-4 if in Vietnam

No, let's fly really low being chased around by a missile and drop a tank, that will explode in a huge fireball and detonate the missile aswell!
Just couldn't help myself
Indeed, P-51 pods have been cut open and used as bassins for cows not far from here. When I go to grandpa's I'll see if I can take a pic.

LOL a Belgian Air Force truck lost it's payload of fueltanks for the 10th Tactical Wing in Kleine Broger AB. There was never any danger, since they were empty. Driver suffered small cuts and bruises in his face.

They look like drop tanks from an F-100.

The first incubator constructed in Sweden (some time during the latter half of WW-2) were put together with plexi glass parts taken from B-17's that had force landed in Sweden during WW-2.
The idea of contact lenses incidentaly came up when surgeons discovered that plexi glass parts stuck in the eye of pilots wounded during the Battle of Britain were not rejected by the human body.

1948 “Salty-Shaker” Dry Lakes Belly Tanker
This belly tank dry lakes car has an awful lot going for it. Firstly, it is
a genuine surviving dry lakes car made from the drop fuel tank of a
World War II P38 fighter plane.
