FRESH ABUSE ALLEGATIONS

Royal Military Police have been questioning a soldier who claims to have fresh evidence of British troops abusing Iraqi prisoners.

The Daily Mirror says the man came to it with evidence of four incidents of abuse carried out by troops from the Queen's Lancashire Regiment.


The allegations concern the same regiment that was the subject of earlier allegations of abuse printed in the paper and now the subject of a Government investigation.

The latest soldier to come forward with claims told the Daily Mirror: "I witnessed four beatings when people were punched and kicked.

"One corporal went up to a suspect who had a sandbag over his face and poked his fingers in the guy's eyeballs until he was screaming in pain."

The man, only known as Soldier C, said the torture was carried out by three ringleaders and was even encouraged by some officers.

He went on: "I've seen the state of their faces when they took the sandbags off.

"Their noses were bent, they looked like haggises. But it was mainly in the rib area."

The man, who has not received or asked for payment, said he would testify before a court martial and may know the man who took the photographs.

A spokesman for Ministry of Defence: "We can confirm that the individual featured in the Daily Mirror is talking to the Royal Military Police."

Last week, the Daily Mirror published its first pictures of the alleged abuse of Iraqi prisoners by British troops.

So did you ever read anything about the reasons of these Wars? The second was caused by the first and the first wasnt just started by Germany. Germany was forced to admit the guilt in the contract of versailles.

Do I get the feeling there is a sly piss take of various nationalities by a moral minority ? It seems that if you are Russian you get Chechen issues thrown at you, Yank or Brit you get Iraq , Israeli you get Gaza, Chinese you get Tibet and so it goes on. I have tried to say it in early postings. Some others have also tried to say it, and now I am trying to say it again.

First: All do agree that what these soldiers did was wrong. No need to try to squeaze that lemon. It is bone dry.

Second: What about what the Iraqi's have done. And the other insurgents. There we also agreed that two wrongs does not make one right.


But here is my 2 cents on what has been going on in those prisons: We have given the enemy fuel for their propaganda. Absolutely free. Maybe some of these abuses was superviced by interigation-experts. Then my question is: Don't they have an ounce of common sense??? I tried to take pictures of Taliban/Al-Qaida prisoners in Afghanistan. That almost got me shot. And I do not **** you. As the curious documentation freak I am, I wanted to preserve that memory in pictures, and was asked to Fook off. Fair enough.
So why was these pictures being allowed to be taken?

The problem with these abuses, is that now we have lost the oportunity to get them on our side forever.
Sad to say, we are now fighting a lost cause, just because of some idiots that could not use common sense.
