What is the standard load out for USMC scout/snipers in Desert terrain? What kind of webbing or carrier (if used at all), would they use if a guillie was required?
Or would they use one at all? Any info would be greatly appreciated

thanks,
Tf

I smell stupidity. All over the f*cking place.

1. If you play airsoft and want to do some sort of recreation of a real Marine sniper, ask it in the Marine loadout thread in the airsoft forum. Actually, that's probably the only reason I can think of that you'd ask that so get back in your cage.

2. I'm really starting to f*cking hate seeing the term "loadout" Unless it involves, me, Jenna Jameson and whipped cream.

3. The rest of you assclowns should think about finding a new hobby soon to replace the "lets kick the sh*t out of airsofters" one. It's getting tedious like kicking blind, retarded, hairless puppies. Sure it's fun and all but every f*cking thread has turned into it and hood ain't cancelling the airsoft section anytime soon.

Hey dude, check this link out: http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?t=60594&highlight=Snipers

It has a bunch of Marine Sniper photos in it (not sure which page) which should give you a good idea of what they're currently using.

Christ, tell me about it. It's possibly one of the most annoying turn of phrase on this site.

If I could say one thing to these kids on here it would be to get into their heads that war/combat is not a videogame. You don't press start and drop in with 'x' magazines for 'primary' and 'secondary' weapons. Any soldiers kit is a mix of personal (comfort and administration) equipment, personal weapon(s) and ammunition, communications equipment, med equipment and other patrol/task kit that is required. What they take on a job is dependant on what they have to do, where they are going, how they are getting there, how long it will (might) take, how they are getting back, what else they might have to do as a consequence of success/failure/changing circumstances etc etc. There is no single....*cringe*.... 'loadout' for anyone. Of course, there are SOP kitlists for different roles, but like everything in the military, once things start rolling, everything changes and typically you will be given more and more to turn that house on your back from a bungalow into a two storey detached family property.

These 'loadout' questions are really beginning to annoy me now. I think the only reason I've been so polite is that I've been placated by watching Lisa Rogers in a denim catsuit, messing about with engines....oh the joy that is Scrapheap Challenge...

(I believe you Americans would know it as 'Junkyard Wars', or something equally as crass...completely destroyed the spirit of it, with shouty presenters and canned enthusiasm....typical.... )

Thanks, but I couldn't have done it without the lovely Lisa. Just to be topical, here she is making the rather boring subject of alternative fuels rather more interesting:

I get PM's of these types of questions almost daily.

I'm over it.

If you really have a need to know, you are in the biz and should already know.

If you have to ask, espcially on a public website, you don't have a need to know.

C'mon now! What if I REALLY want to know but am so high-speed I know too much and forgot what it is I need to know?! Then what?!!!

BTW, I'm still working on that map for you. Should be ready by the weeks end.

Then you just go with what you think you know, and if anyone pulls you up on it ask them why they need to know why you were doing whatever it was you thought you ought to do...

...clear? :)

i've always found mp.net a handy source for military related info, everything from history to findng a nice hard wearing pair of surplus boots for work- but sad to say it's been ''spoiled'' of late by to many 'kids' and 'newbies' who cant be bothered to 'know there place' or even read the rules not to mention 'regulars' who should frankly know better (as California Joe pointed out)

CANT WE ALL JUST GET ALONG :)

just my '2 cents' as even i'm getting fed up of it

Is the term "loadout" just for airsoft outfitting? I typically skip a forum if it uses that term assuming it is a bunch of guys discussing how to speng $1000 trying to recreate what a soldier looks like, though with much more expensive gear. I guess to each their own...but I dont get the airsoft thing. Whats the big deal? There are some great threads on this site...and then there are the "loadout" threads. RR

First of all, you have an awesome avatar.

The thing with airsoft "loadouts" (and California Joe, I liked your comment about Jenna Jameson and whipped cream, lol) is that it increases the realism of the game. I'm not a paintball player, but whenever I talk to people who play paintball, they always talk about the rush and intensity of the game, especially speedball. In airsoft- rather, the milsim part of it- a lot of the game focuses on realism. Many people want to combine a shooting game with reenacting, so it feels like being on 24, or in Black Hawk Down, Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, etc. Personally, I only use gear that I need and is practical, since I do not have much extra money for airsofting. If I did, I'm sure I would want a Jack Bauer setup or something. Also, much of the gear is practical to have for airsoft, and for the same reason military forces use it. Camouflage clothing is important in airsoft for the same reasons it is in the military. When you play with only 30 round "real capacity" mags, it's great to have the same style gear designed for people who have the same type of weapon and need to carry the same amount of mags.

^start playing airsoft with 100lbs of gear on. You'll probably tire of the realism factor of having a real 'loadout'

Good idea mate. 'Loadout' just annoys me on so many levels. It gives me mental images of airsofters in their version of the bat cave, choosing what to wear for each game.

The truth is (and all of us know this) that there are actual soldiers who get issued the kit and still don't look like soldiers! No offense to any clerks here, you do a grand job, but you can ping them a mile off! That's why it amuses me that these guys spend huge amounts of money on kit and yet they still look like 'walts'.

But then, whatever floats your boat. It's better than snorting or pissing your money away. Reminds me in a way of all young toms (myself included) who buy all the 'gucci', 'ally' kit when they get in, only to discover that it's a waste of space. I've got a couple bin bags full of kit that I'll never use again, having thought it was a top bit of kit at the time.....live and learn eh? :)

Exactly. Fill your rigs with kevlar and ceramic plates instead of foam, use metal mags with real rounds (or dummy actually...better make it dummy!!), carry a stupidly large radio, plus batteries, plus a spare radio just in case and stick a couple lead pipes in your bergen to replicate mortar rounds and then see how fun it is.

Your "loadout" will soon become "this f***ing pile of c***ing b*ll*cks and useless f***ing cr*p that I have to f***ing well shift about!!!!"

Thus an ATV to carry the beer:

Better to choose a model with cigarette lighter so you can bring one of those handy portable 12V fridges along.
