Hey President Bush, I've got one word for you: ALASKA! screw OPEC (Our Pockets <-- Everyone's Cash), we'll get out oil elsewhere, greedy bastards. I'm all for developing alternative energy, but I don't want to pay an arm and a leg for gas while it's getting figured out.

For the most part, gas (petrol, for you euros) prices are seasonal, and usually start rising this time of year. But add to that the fact that OPEC has limited production to prevent devaluation, and you get an unusually strong spike in prices.
I'm no hippie tree-hugger, but I've heard the horror stories, and I want to see alternative fuel and power sources soon. While demand constantly increases, oil production will peak in around 10-15 years, and after that, the world'll be a scary place if we haven't figured out how to get by without fossil fuels. The pick-up in the production of hybrid and electric cars is a good sign. If only the world could shed the stigma of nuclear power..

Have yet to see any company that gives away their goods at the lowest possible price just to be nice.
Why should the OPEC act different?

I have a slight feeling of that OPEC is stopping the development seriously, itīs
not like it would be in their interest if people would be driving cars driven by batteries.
The development process of electrically powered cars, busses and so forth is slow
as hell now... hm I wonder why. And they are not reliable either, we have electric
busses in my hometown that costed a ****load of money, and the reliability suck

You see laddy, if we want to steal their oil we would have put all 150,000 U.S. troops around the oil refinery and protect them instead of keeping the peace in the cities.

Australia sells just as much oil as we import. For some stuffed reason our company's sell the oil on the world stage and force the refinery's to buy it at higher prices.
