It has CAL 6.5 on the rear sight and GARDONEV and SN6254 on the barrel. Found it in the garage when I bought my house. Just wondering what it was.

Might be a modified Mannlicher-Carcano Carbine, not sure though, will have to check it.

oh, yeah, just looked it up. Looks like a Carcano Calvary carbine. Italian, eh?

Would love to know how it ended up in my garage. Must've had a hell of a journey. Thanks.

There are many around in the USA, I think Kennedy was shot with one!
The first one is a modell that allows only blanks to be shot.

The hole, Yep the famous Kennedy Killer. I have two carcanos, Ammo can be found at Graf and Sons. One was given to me, it was sadly semi-sportized, barrel shortened, stock forearm shortened and not butt plate.

Works our great for my daughter, I will shorten the reach add a recoil pad and she has a decent hunting rifle.

looks like they are averaging around 500$ or so. So that sounds like a good boost. I say keep it in the family for some time and it may gain greater value.

It looks like someone modified the stock at some point. You think that'll hurt the resale?
And yeah, looks like Kennedy was shot with a Mannlicher-Carcano. I always thought it was a Mauser.

What about clips? The one in the rifle seems a bit bent, and the firing pin is worn down to the point of pointless.

Just read DW's sticky on info requests. So I'll stop asking questions and figure it out myself. Thanks for telling me what kind of rifle this is.

It's funny they seem to be abundant in the States but over here it's quite unusual to find them....it's one of the few ww2 weapons I haven't laid my hands on yet, sometimes you see them in museums but that's all.

The clips are around, I noticed Sportsmanguide.com had them, Numrich probably does too and maybe some other sources. they are not so inexpensive.

To me looks like a 91/28 Moscheto 6.5 x 52 Carcano
