Apologize for my poopy knowledge on the OTHER branch but what are the requirements for getting into BUD/S? I was reading a thread somewhere in the general area and it caught my attention...
Can you get into BUD/S as an E-1, E-2, O-1, O-2, O-1E, O-2E, etc.?
I am clear on the U.S. Army SF requirements...
Must be a male soldier, pay grade O-2, O-3, or E3 to E7
Minimum 230 on APFT
Must be Airborne-qualified or volunteer for Airborne training

*I'm not a SEAL*
Enlisted: You can enlist with what is known as the "SEAL Contract". When you go the Basic, the SEAL Motivators at the Naval Training Facilities will determine if you can be up for BUD/S when you finish Boot Camp. From what I understand you can only go to BUD/S once you finish your speciality school (i.e. Electricians Mate) and the CO of whichever speciality you choose allows you to go. He might need you, then you're out of luck for 2 years before you can try again. Enlisted men that did not enlist on the SEAL Contract can get into BUD/S by having an excellent PFT score around the time their two year duty is up.
You don't even need a high school diploma to be a SEAL, there are a few 17 year-olds that enter BUD/S each year.
Only about 200 enlisted men go to BUD/S each year out of 900 that apply.
Officer:Great PFT score is a must considering only 50 officers (that includes the Fleet, NROTC, USNA, and OCS) are selected to go to BUD/S each year.
"Almost-SEALs" go to BAC after BUD/S. No need to send Sailors to get jump wings when they'll never jump.
