very nice pictures Lord_***. I love the area also. Does the gun work after it's been drowned by water? Before you dry it but like if you drown the gun and someone pops out right there as you do it, will it work?

Water did not react with electric tension up to 10,4V. So if you have a battery inside your AEG up to 10,4V, you can put gun into water and it will be still shooting (but i'll should stay with max. 9,6V - just in case...).

And this is next time i see great photos from mr. LORD_***!

Won't you be kinda wet after dipping yourself into a creek? I mean, isn't that kind of unpleasant, eww?

j/k

In a simulation in the military we had enemy mechanized infantry attack our battery's( yes, I was in the artillery ) battle stations, a reinforced company of them. They couldn't attack our flanks since we had AA -cannons reinforcing us, so the enemy tried going around. They practically ripped our unit into shreds due to their numbers, but as a last resort I remember dipping myself into a drain about 6 ft deep and ambushing a whole platoon of them after they had passed me.. I ended up "dead", but I took a platoon leader, two squad leaders and propably a dozen of lower ranked soldiers with me, and my friend did his part too. We demobilized at least a whole platoon of the enemy and propably more by just the two of us, only by taking a little swim.

I'm sorry to post this here, not many of you will prolly be interested, but those pictures made me remember this, so...
And for those who were interested, We were using blanks and combat simulators (those things attached to your combat gear that react to a weapon firing at you and start beeping when you're hit or when it's getting close).
And to make it a bit more fun, It was -10 Celcius degrees, so imagine me being slightly cold when the battle was all over.

Do people think operators knock around in the same gear for their whole careers? Ofcourse they will wear something new now and again, besides, do you expect airsofters to buy a piece of kit and go rub it in the mud? No, it gets dirty naturally during skirmishes.

Depending on where you skirmish, indoors/outdoors, it could take some time before it looks "lived in" so to speak.

And besides, if an airsofter was dirty everyone would say that you did it on purpose not to be laughed at. No win situation here.

On the question of cleanliness, they certainly went to great lengths to copy SEALs, why not just roll around in the dirt/sand to complete the look?

Well, then those pictures might be confused with real SEAL pictures, and mods aren't going to like have to scrutinizing every picture if they're real or fake.

No need to get pissy, and I didn't want to derail a thread...airsoft cosplay is a fine hobby, and better than a lot of ways folks find to waste money. RC Cars come to mind. But anyway, go forth and play dress-up, my apologies for ruffling feathers.

Don't worry I'm not pissed... I don't wear thousands of dollars worth of gear. My costliest rig cost me around 150$ and my favorite is a 20$ ALICE belt kit.... Of course my militaria collection is an another story

It's just that I too thought that only airsofters were uber gearwhore until I went to a big PB field not too long ago and wow I was stunned to see CIRAS, drop legs panel, multicam, helmets, and realistic looking markers.

oh my oh my, the uneducated people!!

any airsoft gun will work under water, period, with battery in it, and it will work just as good as before you put it in the water. all of the wires are sealed off, so you dont have to worry about it shorting out. the only real problem with dipping your gun in water is when you are done playing around, you must take your gun apart and DRY EVERYTHING. dry everything inside of the gearbox, clean the whole gearbox out (take shims and bushings out too) and then re-apply grease and put it all back together.

they only problem with dipping your gun underwater is. . . RUST!

and another thing: VFC's claim to fame is "we can put our guns underwater and they still fire" but every single manuf. of airsoft replica's can do this.

search it on Youtube, DragonM from asb has a vid of him putting his d-boys AK (that or his jg m4) into water and mud. and they work just fine after

well aslong as it doesnt exceed 9,6 V... it surely wont..
have you thought that water actually will get into the GB, aswell as the motor? theyre not isolated like the cables..
all the conducts are usually blank.
so if you have a aeg that runs with more than 9,6v (eg with a mosfet build it or whatever) it can get you into trouble...

Nice gear, seems overkill though.

I mean, with how much he has spent, he could easily get some nice real steel firearms. Which is why I'm saving up for either a real SPAS-12 or a Springfield Armory XD45 pistol.

Rofl, where on Earth did you draw the conclusion?

Just saying, that's A LOT of cash to be dumped into airsoft. I buy a fair amount of gear and airsoft weapons myself, but being able to own the real thing is far more attractive to me in the long run.

Hehe :)

Well it was sarcastic, because it's a common theme on these forums that now and then someone suggests we all drop the bb spitting toy guns and spend our money to the real thing, but what they don't seem to get is that airsoft is played for different reasons than shooting guns.

Anyway, I know shooting with real firearms can be a lot of fun, I've had my share.

If he likes airsoft, let him buy stuff for that. If he likes firearms I'm sure he'll look into that also, and propably not by the expence of airsoft.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Just saying, personally, as fun as it is to play airsoft, it will never be like having the actual pistol/rifle in hand to bring to the range and what not.

For example- would you want to spend $500-$600 on a Marushin M1 Carbine or a real USGI WWII/Korean War piece?

I probably shouldn't be judging but it seems like an **** load of gear to drop cash on.

Kinda same thing the reenactors do. It just depends on your point of view.

As to the spending money on asg insteaad of the real weapons - not everyone can have one. In example here it's damn difficult and expensive to get the firearm licence. Plus the firearms are more expensive than they should be.

It is stuff like that which further sours the real deal guys' perception of you milsim/airsoft people. To them, the only reason you "need" such accurate impressions, and then take both amateur and "action" photos are to try and pass yourself off as the real thing (if you physically can), if not on myspace, then in a photo on a wall, and is similar to stolen valor. Good job on catching it and policing up your own - you're keeping the peace. ;)

I don't really too much of a problem with airsofters until they start wearing patches that clearly identify them as SEALs. Other patches like the calico jolly roger and other morale patches are fine to me.

The guy on the top looks almost exactly like my dad, who actually was in the Navy for 20 years. Except instead of a sniper rifle, he packed a spatula.

PS: The guy in the American kit in this pic, looks almost exactly like James Suh, a real SEAL who was killed in Operation Red Wing (RIP), as chronicled in the book "Lone Survivor".

Especially, the non-american (particularly those from small asian islands) airsofters who have absolutely zero respect for American Soldiers and always wear patches, oda tags, etc. etc.

I don't play airsoft, but yes, I too have a problem with people wearing patches that they didn't earn. But don't call airsofters f-tards, mods don't look too kindly at that either.

I know he's a Filipino airsofter, I just meant that physically, while wearing the shades, his face looks like James Suh. The uniform and extras are just icing on the cake.

PS: Most of my family is from the Philippines (I grew up in the US so I'm "Amurr-kin'") but I did attend college there (dropped out) and visit every year. I don't see how they can run around in all that gear without collapsing from heat exhaustion.

Oh they do... they do...

Happened more than once to have to urgently rehydrate someone who was wearing all the cool kit rather than just a plain LBV in those 40C sunny days.

I saw people collapsing under ghillie suit too (not fun at all). It's not a secret either that not all airsofters are in the best shape but still they'll want to do it "soldier" way, fully kitted. I know some people who wear SAPIs in their rigs and have absolutly no problem whatsoever. But I personnaly saw two player a year ago collapsing in the field, we found out they were wearing SAPIs, soft armor, MICH, 3day pack (with a sniper rifle strapped to the pack).

I too think that a full body looks closer to the real thing, but if only people could think about THEIR health before what other might think about their kit...

It's also a factor, but hydration is even bigger.

lol? Your core temp does NOT change that much from drinking cold water. To drastically fluctuate core temp you need to take an ice bath and then go sit back outside in the hot air, even then it will take significant amount of time to regain true temp back. If you're running around and sweating, sweating is the key word here, drinking cool water is better because your body has already kicked in the natural ways to cool the body down. The only thing wrong with cool water is that you can cramp up easier than just drinking room temp or outside temp water.

Also if you do not prehydrate before a game, usually the night before or up to 2-3 days before a game. Drinking a lot of water on actual game day might still give you a high chance of falling out because you're just pissing out the water instead of absorbing it.

Instead of swallowing water right out of your bottle (or camelback) let it stay few second in your mouth so it gets to body temp, simple enough (and yeah I've been told that a few time myself, not doubting a second what Kapt says either)

The body does absorb room temperature water easier than cold water, yes. It's not that significant though. Listen to Kaptein. Everything he's said is true. Especially the part that you have to make sure you're hydrated days in advance. Even trying to hyrdrate just the day before won't be fully effective. You have to plan ahead. I've heard more than one soldier say things like "I don't know why I was sucking so bad on that road march. Yeah, I got trashed Saturday night, but I drank alot of water last night."

After big fatty, greasy meals, drinking cold water/drinks is not recommended. All that fat/lipids solidify making digestion much more difficult.

Indeed they are linked, but I've seen some very fat people playing "airsoft" and they don't fall out because they learned to prehydrate and keeping it steady throughout the day.

Now if we can only work off those pounds. p-)

Medicine and medical information is always changing. Since I've been in, CPR standards have changed nearly 4 times. Nothing usually "stays the same" in the name of medicine.

Already I've got pretty comfort 1st line suspenders.
I'm not going to look exactly the same. Just want to know about history, organization etc. and even about the gear as much as possible. I'm sure reenactment is as much about the look as about the knowledge.
And by the way help to choose some suspenders for a friend.

As about that military mag there was a section called something like "airsoft&survival" for a while so why so surprised?

parker
12-12-2008, 11:36 AM
Thanks Hubeertus, but I can already read, somethings don't need to be exact because if you are Reenacting who is gonna know that those are different then what that SEAL is wearing? There are no pictures of those things flying around where you can tell who makes them. Yea, cool that you want to wear the same EI black buckle MBSS as him or whatever but seriously somethings can just be whatever. I don't see you trying to get the same underwear as him, or boot laces. So your reenacting skills are subpar do you really think those operators care what brand of suspenders they are?

Just goto a tactical gear website, look for some black suspenders and click "add to cart" but make sure they are a US Gear seller, we want your money with this bad economy. :-)

Oh and just so you know before you start bolding things again.

It's always about the look man. You never know when the ground will break out underneath you and you'll have to fight your way out while being attacked by Haji zombies. Or when one of your men takes a BB in the leg and can't make it back to the spwan area, and you have to fight all night waiting for evac. You can still not put chem lights on your gear. When you find yourself 100 ft underground, in the dark, being attacked by Haji zombies, and you think to your self "God I wish I would have listened to mrmojo and brought some chem lights." If you ever make it out make sure to contact me so I can say I told you so. p-)

Wonder why this figure has a backup magazine for an M14 on a Crane Stock. Michael Murphy employed a standard Colt stock on his MK18. Just an observation.

You're a hot chick so I'm sure you could come up with something to convince them to, ahem, take pictures.

I'm just not sure what your "loadout" would be in said pics, though. Mardi Gras beads, maybe? p-) At least we'd get a good look at their gear. C'mon, take one for the team!
