No. The SAM-R are built from M16A4. There was one article where a Marine unit was talking about using the Mk 11 as a SAM-R (sort of a Super SAM-R), but this is the exception not the rule.

The SAM-R and the USMC DMR and Mk 11 Mod 0 were classified in the Project Metropolis literature as being equipment for two seperate roles.

This news story (http://www.marines.mil/marinelink/mcn2000.nsf/lookupstoryref/20044810498) on the USMC website refers to a SAM-R that fires 7.62mm NATO as a replacement for the M14 DMR. It's clearly a Knight's Armament Company Mk 11 Mod 0. However, I would consider this story to be in error, since the SAM-R is definitely not a Mk 11 Mod 0. It is a 5.56mm M16A4 configuration, with many pictures available of it in use. Click on the pictures for links to the news stories on the USMC website.

D.E. Watters, thatguy96, pettifogger, thanks for informations. This news story at the USMC website which put a Mk 11 Mod 0 on a par with the SAM-R has puzzled me a little.
