Will Marilyn Manson play Jesus?

The shock rocker — whose controversial lyrics and stage antics have made him the target of some Christian groups — is being tapped to play Christ in an upcoming film. “Diamond Dead” is a far cry from “The Passion of the Christ.” It’s a dark comedy about a rock band that makes a deal with the devil and — according to an excerpt of the script posted on line — in the film, Jesus smokes pot. “Diamond Dead” will be directed by George Romero, who also did “Night of the Living Dead,” and music was written by Richard Hartley, who composed for “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.”

“The idea of Marilyn Manson in the role of Jesus Christ is getting all sorts of reactions,” according to the “Diamond Dead” web site. “Someone emailed me saying that it’s a horrible and anti-Christian idea, but nevertheless they are praying for us.”

When called by the Scoop, Manson’s rep had no comment.

Well he is kind of a tool...but then again, he probably looks more like Jesus than the pic posted here (with blonde hair, blue eyes etc.)

He wasn't born with that name. In his original band, "Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids" (or something like that) everyone took a name based on famous figures from the 1960s. "Marilyn Manson" was a fusion of Marilyn Monroe and Charles Manson.



The movie looks about as serious as Jesus Christ: Vampire Hunter and The Life of Brian (and far less serious than Dogma, where Alanis Morrisette played God) and I personally don't see why it's worth getting seriously upset about. But that's just me.

Excellent!!!!! I always loved the way MM has been able to pull the fundalmentalists chain and watch them roar like rabid hyenas!!!!!! Maybe we will see streams of true beleivers (mostly Texans) picketing the movie theaters and admonishing movie goers of the "imminent" rapture that is soon to occur! rofl rofl rofl

MM hasn't released an album in how many years? I say he should stick to writing 'songs' instead of creating a media ****storm because he wants his album to sell and every kid in America to know his name. Like every other entertainer he wants to become rich.

He's not a crap musician, its just that its not your taste of music, I don't care for his music either but I don't say his music is crap, the man is one of the most famous artists that ever lived.
