NEW YORK (CP) - The body of a Canadian woman has been found in a garbage truck in the New York borough of Queens. Stacy-Ann Sappleton of Tecumseh, Ont., near Windsor, had been shot several times.
Sappleton, 26, had flown to New York on Friday to make arrangements for her September wedding to Damion Blair of Detroit. She was en route to the home of Blair's parents in a quiet New York residential neighbourhood when she disappeared. She was reported missing on Saturday.
Sappleton's body, clad only in underwear, was found by a sanitation worker Monday when he stopped to check a jammed mechanism on the back of his truck.
Police said Sappleton appeared to have been dead less than 24 hours.
An autopsy was to be performed Tuesday.
