Blued finish? I thought all GI M1 Garands were parkerized, trigger guard also is constructed differently from any M1 I've seen, don't know if that's an NM thing or a special thing for JFK..

And call me crazy but the sling is on backwards

Beautiful looking rifle, though.

That is a stamped trigger gaurd, they were used from about 1945 on. The ones before were the milled type with the hole.

What next? The Bob Hope Bazooka, complete with a slapstick punch-line engraved in gold? I for one, think these "commemorative" firearms are silly.

Call me old-fashioned, but my M-1 is for running through the woods and shooting things with it.

Very nice Garand! Rest in Piece JFK - it'll find a good home...

I saw a pair of JFK's Presidential Colt SAA's at an exhibit - both guns were beautifully engraved but gilding was not finished (he was assassinated prior to the completion)... That brought up all kind of sad emotions...
