Doubtless he will claim Legal Aid to pursue the case LOL

Only a French lawyer could pursue such a case. Where were they when the bullets were flying eh? :cantbeli:
IMO Sadman has either a rope or a firing squad awaiting him, not an International Court settlement. rofl

It's a dirty job, but somebody got to do it.

they were probably smart enough to keep away.

I think you mean bought enough to keep away.
Hey, it's not like anyone expected much from them regardless of their shilling for Iraq at the U.N. Security Council. And I quote Donald Rumsfeld:
Going to war without the French is like going hunting without an accordian.

^^I think it was Schwarzkopf(sp?) that said that.
Anyhoo this is so stupid. Weren't the British photos said to be fakes?
A french lawyer who is trying to prove Saddam is innocent, he could possible be the biggest dirtbag ever. :bash:
I agree with what was said above about the rope or firing squad. That's the best way to do it. :fork:

I'm sure Mr Froggy lawyer doesn't care, bet he's got a huge percentage of his fee on deposit already, with guaranteed payment of the rest. Surely no-one can ever seriously see Sadman getting off, not even Maitre Verges can expect to get him off, unless the lawyer is a total whacko :cantbeli:
The Iraqis plan to try some of the lesser baddies first, to get a few guilty verdics under their belts, before Sadman himself appears before the court, which apparently will take place in a former Baghdad Museum.

Mr Verges is known as the 'devil's advocate'
:| I fail to see how anyone with morals could do this.

Saddam Hussein's lawyer is set to file a suit for war crimes against Britain at the International Criminal Court in The Hague.

IMO the lawyer got balls to do what he is doing, because even a monster like Hussein deserves a credible defense where all the accusations are being scrutinized. A fair trial is better than a mob from militaryphotos stoning Saddam to death.

Why no suit against the US too?
Roger Rabbit

Why? He's going to be found guilty and exectued if he is tried in Iraq, If he is tried somewhere without the death penalty then he will get life inprisonment. There is absolutely no doubt about the outcome of the trial so why waste loads of money doing it. They should get it over and done with in a week. I know it wont happen though, instead huge sums of money will be spent, he'll still end up dead or life inprisonment and the only people who will have profited will be lawyers.

Saddam isn't suing over himself, he's suing over the warcrimes committed against his people. No one else has seriously confronted the US-UK about what they've done, where the hell is the EU in all this? No doubt too scared to say anything lest the Americans ban French Fries again.

That is totally outrageous - what about the 25 years of crimnes against humanity committed by Sadman and his henchmen against his own people, and the war crimes against Iran and Kuwait.
This lawyer must have no conscience - but there again, do any of them?

Given that Saddam Hussein is not the recognised leader of Iraq right now,it makes him look arrogant as if he's never done any wrongdoing
However,How do you think the Iraqi people especially the Kurds and the Shia's will vote, when he's tried by the Iraqi people himself?
Returned to a democraticaly elected Position ....................or Death?

We should take the Lawyer into custody for defending him.

Supporting terrorists is a crime isnt it?

Supporting terrorists is a crime isnt it? No need to jail him for the terrorists supporting... it will be enough to jail and execute this scumb*g for the things he's done as he was the adviser to Pol Pot in Cambodia... Yes... Killing Fields of Cambodia... he was there and then as a idealistic and active aidee of Khmer Rouge who were building there a "new happy society, free of capitalistic oppression". Typical 60-ties leftie (generation of March 1968) who was a swine and still is ... but he likes capitalism now.

Oh, gee. And how did Pol Pot come to power in Cambodia? Who else should be executed?
What exactly is the problem here? Shouldn't Saddam have a lawyer? Shouldn't Saddam have any rights? Oh, I see. It's his nationality, isn't it?
How about Shapiro? Would that be better?

Q1- You tell me... was it poll, ballot, elections or was he appointed by V.I.Lenin himself from the sarcophagus on the Red square...?
Q2 - Problem is that this lawyer should be put and never let out of prison... but who cares...? He did nothing wrong in Europe...

He can have lots of fun with the results of his trial when he is put in the ground.

Remind me again...........did you not accuse me of being one of the main flamers in this forum? ;)
You never answered the question I asked either? ;)

But not in an Al Graib way tho ? ;)
Do you think he will be put to death?
Do you think he will recieve a fair trial?
Hard to tell really. It's not even sure if the US hands him over to the Iraqis or not. On the other hand, they will eventually do so and Saddam will face the consequences the tribunal sees right.
As soon as Iraq gets it's judicial system and sovereignity in order and recognizes the Geneva Convention the trial will be fair. It's not a difficult or close one, eh?
