AN/PVS-21. Never seen a non-production pic before. Good stuff.

It must be a tricky angle for the PVS-21.

Any idea who's the guy in the pic?

Thank you Cap'ndaddy and flanker7.
The guy is a security contractor in Baghdad, or at least in the complete picture he is talking with another contractor in a LZ operated mainly by a PMC.
Again, thank you both ;)

Reminds me of Argyll on one of the pics in his album. The cammo pattern looks almost identical... :)

He's wearing an IBH, and if I remember correctly...only a few hundred units were made for SOCOM.

The camo makes them look like soldiers, but yet they aren't. I've seen several contractors wearing camo so I don't think it is forbidden.

I seem to recall someone posting pictures of a SEAL team that was wearing tigerstripe camo similar to this during the initial invasion.

Just some thoughts...
In the complete picture, this guy is talking with another one, and this one wearing 5.11 style pants and shirt, and the US Embassy ID-card.
The place is LZ Washington, located inside the International Zone and beside US Embassy.
Various contractors have been wearing camo, not only desert tiger stripe, also MARPAT, ACU, military-style Nomex jumpsuits,...
PVS-21 are expensives gadgets, but some PMCs put a load of money for their contractors.
IMHO... a contractor working for WPPS contract in Iraq, the other possibility is a SOF guy with full battle-rattle inside the IZ.

I just get the feeling he is government soldier, I don't know why I just do.
The thing I can say is that those stereo NVG are enormously expensive, stereo NVG are mostly common for pilots. So that points to a gov-bloke.

The weapon is a bit off, otherwise I'd say ...

Only my thought
I am certain that he is British SAS, or SBS, or SRR. I can remenber the weaponry.

SAS/SBS/SRR arriving to a LZ mainly used by a private military contractor, with night vision devices, early in the morning (so after a night operation) and arriving in PMC's helos and attended by PMC's personnel?
My tought is that he is a contractor with some expensive equipment, is not the first time that contractors have good gadgets.
