View Full Version : combo shotgun question
my ex step grandfather had a shotgun my brother and i both loved using killing snakes in the rocks at the lake. it was a combo 20 gauge on top with a .22 rifle on the bottom and able to be broke down . my question is i have no idea who manufactured this gun or any others like it. i was wanting one like it but don't know of anyone who carries anything like this. to fire this gun you would of had to have cocked the gun the flipped down the hammer on the bottom to fire the .22. it is a cool gun, wish he hadn't of divorced my grandmother but hey his greedy kids brought that chapter to a close. any help with this is appreciated and i realize i shall be taunted for being an idiot of not knowing what exactly a rifle/shotgun combo is called

Didn't the US airforce used to issue a survival rifle that was a combination shotgun/.22 rifle? Can't remember what it was called, but was ugly as hell. I saw one for sale at a gun auction here in the UK, and looked like something someone had made in their garage.

Say you zeroed the .22 for about 30 metres, would firing the shotgun barrel cause a shift in the MPO?

In my gun trader book they say that model is a Savage 24S O/U Combination.
It's the only one with a .22 barrel.
Not very bright in my opinion.
we were firing down into the water with the shotgun, the snakes would pop their heads up out of the rocks and simultaneously got decapitated by a dose of quail shot. it's what we had done for years so we never questioned it

then i guess it must be it. i will look into getting one when i try to get the 1903 springfield.

Just be careful shooting into rocks and hard surfaces @ close range. I've got a piece of #4 shot in my cheek to this day...at least wear eye protection!

That is a fearsome looking gun, would look even better with 30rd mag for the .223. Where is the mag for the shotgun, is it that thing on the left side of reciever that looks like it slides out forwards?

The rifle uses AR-15 type magazine and the 12ga shotgun utilizes an detachable magazine that holds 4 rounds.
seems like it.. they dont make it anymore.. i think it goes for about 1grand

Yeah, I think the Crossfire series were subject to quite a few mechanical flaws......an interesting concept though.
