Glock was a exhibitor at the Beijing Int'l Exhibition on Police Equipment and Anti-terrorism Technology Symposium(CIEPE) in 2008. From rumors I've heard Glock is planning to enter into the Chinese market and negotiating to open up a Chinese branch in the future. (Unconfirmed)
There were no announcement from the Chinese police that we plan to purchase glock firearms yet. However I have a question, due to the UN arms embargo imposed on us, is Glock authorised to sell its products to our law enforcement agencies?
If anyone heard anything about this rumor, please tell me more about it.
Thankyou

I didn't even know there was a UN arms embargo on China. Even if there was, couldn't China (PRC) just veto it???
Aside from that, I can't see why not. It's just a pistol. And if Glock doesn't sell it to them directly, the Chinese would either copy it or buy it through a third country.

Won't they just copy them and come out with "Grocks"?

Well with a police force like they have imagine the $$$$ to be made if the Glock becomes standard issue.

Yes but that will happen anyway, if they buy them or not.

No need, they just copy and manufacture themselves.

It's not always like that. If Glock was smart, it would do what audi does with their cars in China.
It's better to licence reproduction than to be totally ripped off and get nothing for it.

How do you think companies get ripped of? Exactly that way.
But yeah, at least you get some some profit... question is for how long. Trademarks like VW or Audi may have the advantage of their name but the chinese crowd is very patriotic though. They are very proud of their ripp-offs.

I don't think Chinese authority is capable of copying Glock at THIS MOMENT. This is because the thermoplastic technology in China is not mature enough to do it in mass production, especially for military-grade.
However, they surely can copy it when China is putting more efforts to make the thermoplastic technology improved in the future.

Not to sound like an ass, but you or who ever is holding the gun should work on his or her grip...:)
