Do you people think that the "War against Terror" is actually winnable?

Was the war against piracy in the 19th century won? Was the war against fascism in the early 20th century won? Was the Cold War won?

Now, there were always be some level of fascism, communism, and even piracy in the world...they're universal, just as terrorism is. But terrorism will be marginalized by our efforts and phased out in the middle east after we change significant portions of that area. Kill the thugs and/or face them down, that's all one can do. It's all we did w/ Hitler, piracy (incidentally, the US Navy was formed to combat piracy), and communist oligarchs.

Honestly i dont think its winnable, but i think we can do enough to keep the terrorists off our back and our country by in large pretty safe. And with as crazy as the world is and the worse itll get thats just about a victory all in itself. Too many people are based on values and morals we cant fathom, and as long as they are allowed to live and bread, we can never get rid of the people that will hate us and wish us hard, but i think we can control it to an extent.

there is no way it can be won, i mean honestly a war on terror is not going to get rid of terrorists just like police, lawyers and jails dont get rid of criminals and criminal acts.

The War on Terror can only be won with the help of all the near east countries.
