I am doing some research into MWG 50 round mags and Pro-Mag 50 round mags for 10-22. Does anyone have any expirience in either mags and performance? I appreciate the help.

I tried a Pro-mag 50 round drum in my 10/22 last summer, didn't feed properly and there was a lot of slop between the mag well and the magazine.

At work, a customer got fed up with his so we had to return some of the drums to the manufacturer for just the same reason.

I haven't had any experience with the MWG Mags, but i hear they are far more reliable. Personally just the look of the tear drop mag turns me off from it. But i have yet to try it.

I've stuck with the Butler Creek 25 round steel lip mags and they work fine.

The 50 round drum would look cool in one of the 10/22 conversion kits...say the MG42.

Pro-Mag magazines are synonymous with "will not feed" - that goes for any handgun or rifle calibers...

A retailer website that has comments section, will give Pro-Mag products a lowest rating - I almost bought some for the great price, but then soon realized I'd be wasting my money.

Butler creek steel-lipped 25 round mags are great if you can find them.

I don't think any of those drum or tear-drop mags are made very well.

Plastic lips always fail in my experience.

What you can do is buy whatever sort of mag you want, then get some factory mags, and replace the lips/head section on them and feed problems are solved.

That's for the 10/22.

I had an MWG 50 round tear drop mag. It worked quite well. It wasn't very user friendly for loading and you couldn't top up a partial mag without opening the back and screwing with it. Great when it was running but a fair hassle to get to that point.
