Is Band of Brothers the best film depiction of a soldier's experience in war? I realize that each war is different, and that no film can truly recreate the feelings of war...but I'm halfway through the BoB miniseries and it's hitting me viscerally like nothing I've ever seen before. I'd like some input, particularly from combat veterans.

Thanks.

Thin Red Line and All Quiet on West Front make it a draw !

Stalingrad was very good in my opinion. Even though the movie itself is rather depressing. But by depicting war from the losing side and a side that was in so many ways morally unjust, I think you lessen the risk for making a glamorized view of war...

...but BoB is a very good testament to some extraordinary people. Those people who landed in Normandy either in the drop or on the beaches, they amaze me by going through all that and that they came out and were able to go on with their lifes...
