I think that used to be an African or Religious symbol. Don't quote me on that though.

I can only assume the swastika is beign worn to scare the enemy, as was done on occasion.

The Swastika has a very long history and IIRC it's one of the oldest symbols known to man and can be found in many cultures, asian as well. It's a symbol of good luck in many cultures but how anyone are willing to wear one after WWII beats me (unless you are a nazi of course)...even though this in isn't a correct Nazi Swastika...

Yup, that's why he's wearing the reversed one (the good one), Nazi germany used the other one...
(And so it probably was turned/twisted on the neglace)
