Many photos from Vietnam show pictures of soldiers who have written various things on their helmets. Is this practice now banned? What about writing on tanks and other vehicles?

You draw whatever the hell you want on your kevlar when you are on the field, but you will have to clean it up or change cover on your kevlar for company/platoon inspection.

I remember someone drew a **** star doing the "spreading eagle" on his kevlar. I don't think that's a good idea if you walk around post with civilians and ****.

Yeah, ****stars doing spread eagles isn't a great drawing to have on one's head when in countries like Iraq. p-)

By the way, great avatar/location. :D

Well, some of the stuff they had on their helmets during Vietnam really scared me:

I've always wanted to write either "For our Sins..." or "If it bleeds, we can kill it."

I like to draw big bullseyes on my helmet and next to them write "If you're a sniper and you can read this, please adjust windage 5 clicks. Thanks"

The cigarette-package was probably added later on.

Or who knows, maybe the guy who got that from Ebay also received the package with it, I wouldn't know...
