I really enjoyed reading this because its soo true, this man is a TRUE hero...HOOAH  woot
It some how reminds me what happening in Israel...no one tells the world this guys are young fellows like me that protecting thier home... like the Givati soldiers that look for thier comerades under very heavy fire (Gaza is not like the yehuda and somron..you can say its the fallujah of Israel) looking for body parts even the smallest picking it up and putting them in a bag.. to think my sister knew one of the officers :(
You'll never hear about those heros... about the man who fights in Iraq/Afgainstan/Territories/Chechany
Thank you for making this world a safer place :D

How come he doesn't get the Medal of Honour? If that doesn't deserve it I don't know what does.

But you wont see it on the network news tonight, and all you read in Brian's
hometown newspaper was two paragraphs of nothing. Instead, it was more
blather about some mental defective MPs who acted like animals.
being from his area i can say the local newspaper didnt even mention a single word about this...but you cant expect fair coverage from a paper called "The Democrat And Chronicle".
Instead they devoted a whole section to the prisoner abuse scandal.

This was on the news last night. I saw the story on CNN. Granted, it wasnt very long, and it followed the abuse scandal, but at least it was there.
That man is a true Marine. He's an inspiration to all military personel.

I think we need to hear moreabout our brave fighting forces! Excellent story!
If he get's a medal or not. He did what I would expect a soldier...a leader...to do. He was under fire, saw his men being killed and wounded, grabbed his nuts and his weapon, and kicked ass! AMEN !!!!

Capt. Brian R. Chontosh, 29, from Rochester, N.Y., Combined Anti-Armor Platoon commander, received the Navy Cross for extrordinary heroism on March 25, 2003.
While leading his platoon north on Highway 1 toward Ad Diwaniyah, Chontosh's platoon moved into a coordinated ambush of mortars, rocket-propelled grenades and automatic weapons fire, according to the award citation.
With coalition tanks blocking the road ahead, he realized his platoon was caught in a kill zone.
Chontosh instructed the driver to move the vehicle through a breach along his flank, where the vehicle immediately came under fire from an entrenched enemy machine gun.
"Without hesitation," the citation said, Chontosh ordered the driver to advance directly toward the enemy position, enabling his .50-caliber machine gunner to neutralize the threat.
He then directed his driver into the enemy trench, where he exited his vehicle and began to clear the trench with an M16A2 service rifle and 9mm pistol, the citation read.
His ammunition depleted, Chontosh twice picked up discarded enemy rifles and continued his "ferocious" attack, according to the account.
When a Marine following him found an enemy RPG launcher, Chontosh used it to destroy yet another group of enemy soldiers.
The attack — described in the citation as "audacious" — cleared 200 meters of enemy trench and killed more than 20 enemy soldiers while wounding several others, it said.
"I was just doing my job. I did the same thing every other Marine would have done," Chontosh said.
He said "a passion and love for my Marines" fueled his onslaught.
