good to see. these aren't originally from memri, they are from multiple sources (each source defined under each respective cartoon). i'm encouraged but for every one of these i've seen a dozen cartoons, tv shows and print media columns inciting hatred.

http://www.memri.org/bin/latestnews.cgi?ID=IA39807

"The Arab press recently published more cartoons condemning terrorism. [1] These cartoons presented terrorism as an indiscriminately destructive force striking everything in its path, and mocked the terrorists for blindly pursuing the promise of the virgins of Paradise. The cartoons also expressed criticism of extremists who entice the youth, indoctrinating them to embrace extremist ideas."

examples (all hotlinked coz i'm tired):
Cartoon No. 3: "Terrorism has passed this way."

Cartoon No. 7: "Blind Terrorism."

Cartoon No. 10: The hooded figure is labeled "Extremist Leaders"; the shield is labeled "The Deceived Youth."

It is an excellent reminder that it is a select few people who support terrorism in Arab countries, not the majority

Yes, these cartoons are a very positive thing. But one must be very careful about the motivation behind these publication. Remember that islamists are the political opposition in the countries where these cartoons were published (Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria). For them terror is something directed against the ruling regimes, so it's not surprising to see these cartoons in the government controlled media - it's just another from of anti-oppositional propaganda.(Only Al-Hayat in London maybe is different in this aspect.)

Thats right.. Syrians for example see some Kurdish groups as terrorists while their pals Hamas and Hezbollah are fighting the same way.

But its good that there are some people in the arab world that are against any kind of terrorism.
