RIP to the South African Naval Ship President Kruger [F150 Rothesay class ] and
16 of her crew went down with her when she was struck by a Fleet replenishment Tanker "Tafelborg" [1958/12,500grt] In the early hours of 18th Febuary 1982

timetraveller, my father was on that ship when it all happened. I remember my mother being called at 2 in the morning, and rushing out of the house.. I had no idea what was going on, I was 5 years old.

He suffered many bad dreams after that, many times, waking up in the middle of the night, screaming - They are coming to get me!! - he was sure that their ghosts were standing around his bed.
