I'm told that there are a number of different ways this sling can be set up. Any British soldiers or people with these slings on their weapons care to share their setup? I personally have one on an armalite, i'll get pics of my set up at somepoint.

As far as i am aware there is only one way to attach the sling to the rifle. However by undoing the clip then you give yourself more freedom of movement. I'll try and explain a bit more clearly.
Attach sling to rifle. Rifle is then supported by the body and you don't have to hold it.
Un-do the clip and the rifle is still attached to the body but you have to hold the rifle in oder to stop it from hanging around your lower body, this also gives you more freedom of movement as the sling is long enough to act as if you were just holding a rifle without sling. As far as i know this is used when in combat ie being shot at and returning fire or patroling.
I don't know of any other ways to set-up the sling. Hope i helped, there are some other members on the board who may be able to give you some more advice which will probably be clearer than what i said ;)

You can have it across your back, backpack style, aswell (I presume for when climbing.). I'll have to get my Dad to stick the sling back on my L85 and take some pictures. :)

there is 2 ways to put the sling on the rifle
1. the right way where the rifle remains on the body when you opon the fastex buckle.
2. the wrong way when you open the fastex whilst not holding the rifle there is an embarassing clatter and the rifle lands on the floor.
there is different ways of wearing the sling eg across body. or slung straight down back.
there is the manual way of attaching the sling where you break it down into two seperate pieces which is a pain.
or the keep it in one piece which is easier to do.
the easiest way is one the UDR used to use which is put the sling on to clips like were on the old 58 webbing and just clip it on to and of the rifle as it goes into the armoury.
personally I wear the sling long enough so i can put it into the shoulder with out opening the fastex clip.
