Anyone know how much KAC charges for an M5 RAS? I was wanting to build a replica of the M16A4 I had issued to me. The ACOG is going to be the really expensive part...

Dont know the exact price but all of the KAC stuff is fairly pricey... You might want to look at a surefire rail... Hell of a lot cheaper and still really good quality

I would've thought their stuff would've been pricier... Thanks for the tip!

If you want to build an absolute clone of the A4, you must use a real KAC RAS, or what's the point?

Look to pay about $300 for the RAS....LOTS more for the ACOG!

I am sure you can find it cheaper though as previous posts indicate.

definitely, because any Marine or weapon enthusiast can recognize them right away; it's not as good as a free float RAS, but that's what we used. $300 is worth it since the Surefire's are listed at around $228.

Yea the ACOG I want is $1267.00!!!! unbelievable! it's the TA31F (it was one of the older ones; the TA31RCO was still in the process of getting fielded for the Corps) that thing is more than the rifle!

But worth it!

I count the money I paid for my TA-31F well-spent.

How about a LaRue Tactical free float rail? More sturdy than the Knights M5 RAS because it isn't free-floated? Why not build an M4?

Before you do anythign go check out rhe Equipment Exchange on AR15.Com. The majority of the items for my ARs were purchased or exchanged over there. Before you do anything though check the rating of the person you are dealing with.

+1

When I was in A-stan, I found a guy that sold me a TA31F for $650 NIB and sent it to me from the states. I had my supply SGT write a letter, signed by the CO, saying it was my personal property. Thank god I did, as when we left, ACOG's were "missing" and they tried to claim mine was one of them.

Couldn't they have just compared the Ser. # to your company's serialized gear list and realized it wasn't an issued piece of gear?

Alot of people do because they look sexier but I'd take my M16 over an M4 anyday. You get more range and muzzle velocity. I think the Corps did a great job by sticking with the M16 for the majority of it's inventory.

But the M-16A4 is an anachronism.

You can argue about barrel length, but the lack of a telescoping buttstock is simply conservatism and a lack of imagination. There is no reason not to have a telestock on issue rifles, considering the universal use of body armor today.

But as a clone, knock yourself out.

you bring up a good point, but even shooting out the window of my HMMWV, i didn't have any problems w/ the full length stock and i'm only 5'6". even when we would mess around with my buddie's M4 (he's a cop) i would extend the stock all the way because it didn't feel natural to me any other way

True, that would make sense, however, they had a way of making serial numbers "match" when something went lost and then was "found" again.

The letter was just to ensure that didn't happen.

Good people and decent prices at Operation Parts.

They have the largest selection of KAC parts known to man.

I got my KAC set for my personal M4 on Ebay for more than half price. It was new in box too. I'd look over there.
